Why is Melo even going to the Olympics? He has his gold medals. He needs to give up his spot to a younger guy. Bron & CP3 ain't going.
You're right but Olympic Melo tends to stay around the season after the Olympics. We need that version![]()
He wasn't even bad this season, he was heating up in Jan and then that ref cameWe got that version. He only really had 1 bad season and that was this past season. Year before he was hurt and the year prior to that, they wasted an MVP type season from him with trash for teammates.
Fair enough, that's all I asked.
If we're keeping Melo, it's better that he plays. He's a notoriously slow starter (could be due to aforementioned not coming into camp and season in great shape but that's speculation) but his best performances have been after spending half a summer with team USA which keeps him up to speed. Even the injury concerns don't bother me, worst case scenario we're in the tank for what's being sold as a really deep draft.

I mean the reason I liked the January period is cause he was heating up and it was really helping his team, look at his assists compared to Calderon. People were getting great shots cause of how he was distributing the ball.Ehh. "heating up" is probably an overstatement, seeing as a season consists of hot streaks and cold streaks. But I was more impressed with his play this year than I have been in a few years, stylistically.

Oh definitely, people don't really mention how good he was playing all around for the better part of the season.Yeah. Definitely. He was doing that AFTER he got hurt, too. Probably some of the best team ball he has ever played.
No Knicks player will salivate more than Grant at the thought of an up-tempo pace and pick-and-rolls. Grant is long, athletic and thrives in those kind of sets. And despite a largely uninspiring rookie campaign, he showed flashes of ability when he started the final six games, averaging 3.7 assists and 14.5 points on 49.3 percent shooting, 36.8 percent from 3-point range.
His shaky jump shot is what caused him to be available to the Knicks in the draft, and it’s largely what he’s been working on for weeks in two-a-days at the team’s Tarrytown facility with ex-Nuggets shooter Mahmoud Abdul-Rauf.
“Jerian, this guy gets in the gym and he puts the work in,” his father said. “You have to be on the floor, you have to be on the floor and you’ve got to work through your mistakes and get that confidence. The last 12, 14 games the fans in New York got to see what Jerian can do.”

I agree. I'm surprised he's going, tbh. I think he needs to focus all his attention on the team changes right now, the olympics are an unnecessary distraction at this point.
