It's not just the Warriors. This playoffs we watched Aldridge and Tristan Thompson play the 5 and watched Serge Ibaka become irrelevant. I'm not saying we don't need a center at all, I'm saying we have more pressing needs than center IMO. I'd rather commit 10-12 mill to that position than 18.

I can see that approach, but I'd say and wait and see what the rest of the starting value Centers get before we go too hard on 18. 10-12 is 25% or more short of what Mozgov just got. That could be an outlier, but if it's the standard then we may not have had many options but to spend that much.

That was the crux of my position that Melo's trade value would increase after FA's all sign. Not that it matters any more, we're clearly keeping dude, but I think my theory was and is rock solid.
