Im not overrating Lopez at all. He was overpaid, but yes he was better than both Melo and Porzingis last year. I have no problem with the Knicks dumping his salary. Reality is the roster stinks and Carmelo isnt very good. I dont know how many more losing teams he has to take the most shots for when folks will finally realize it.
roster does suck
judge melo when we have a actual team
cause whenever he has had one, he has excelled

This is what you guys wanted :yeshrug: to go all in to appease Melo and make the playoffs as quickly as possible

Now we'll sign a few 30 something year olds and become an older team trying to grab a playoff spot

This doesn't seem like a go all in move to me though... The Knicks still have the same amount of cap space, the same amount of draft picks and picked up a player on an expiring contract, and they actually created potentially more cap space for the next year. And they didn't give up a game changer in any sense of the word. They gave up a solid player, and young player with unknown potential, and a bum for a solid to all-star caliber player, a young player with unknown potential (maybe a little less than Grant) and a second round pick. Going all in would be signing Dwight Howard or Mike Conley to the max. This is making a medium-risk investment in hopes of a high payout.

Who is available that can easily switch between the 2/3 and play with a chip on his shoulder? I have a feeling Phil wants the luxury of a 2, but dependable wing man to save melo down the stretch.

Evan Turner..... They could use another good 3 pt shooting Wing as well but I definitely think Evan Turner is a priority next to rose they could play Rose off the ball and Turner is a good enough defender to not have to have Rose guard the opponents best guard. He just's doesn't shoot 3's well. Crabbe or Bazemore could handle that.

Is he coming this season or just wishful thinking?

Willy is likely coming. He purposely didn't sign with his team in spain I wouldn't be surprised if the knicks get a SG/Wing depth and then try to convince Pau (or another veteran Big) to come to NY to play a few minutes a game on a rebate as well as to help mentor KP and Willy.

Why max out conley or struggle to make playoffs with lopez?
take a gamble on rose, add some solid players
and have cap space up the ass for players who actually deserve it next year

I think we should target Al Horford, Joakim Noah, and Dwight Howard to fill the hole left by RoLo's departure...

I like Horford's fit because he's a highly professional, high I.Q. team player, has range to the three point line, one of the best big man ball handlers and passers it's great to have multiple playmakers at different positions just look at Golden State. Also, he helped anchor the second best defense in the league. Quietly racked up 4x All-Star and has been in the playoff picture in Atlanta for almost a decade. Karl-Anthony Towns called him a mentor I think he can really teach Kristaps some things as well.

For our SG hole, Courtney Lee is ideal. Perfect 3&D wing and he and Rose make up for a very speedy backcourt.

You know what I find funny and shows the hate the Knicks garner for some reason. Last season everyone laughed at the Robin Lopez deal and claimed the Knicks over payed. This year he gets traded and the narrative is that he was on the best contract ever and the Knicks are idiots. I mean Lopez played well last season but seriously were supposed to get hung up on Robin Lopez getting moved out? This deal to me has no real negative unless they go out and do something stupid after it.
