Probably a lateral move from Lopez and will come cheaper. Unles the Knicks want to be bad bad next year they need to sign someone to play that spot.

The big thing RoLo gave us was defense though and Pau doesn't give that at all any more. The dirty work like boxouts and hard screens aren't there either. It's replacing a dirty work big with a finesse big...an older one.

I mean we need to come to grips with the fact the Knicks got worse short term when they dealt Lopez. Gasol would be a fine fill in for a year with our sights set on '17 anyways.

Rose came into last season and his main goal was to get a full season healthy under his belt (he did it)

He said he would ramp up during the season and then take another step in the playffs. He did this, minus the oppurtunity to play in the playoffs. He started the season with the eye injury, but he finished the last 35 games or so as a 19 & 5 (45+% FG) player. This is all under a coach that was clearly lost, and having to share main playmaking dutires with Jimmy, who pretty much put Hoiberg in a corner and demanded the ball more.

Rose then said his last reincarnation would come in the 16/17 season - his contract year(he took some shyt for being honest about this)

Well, here we are. He completed 1st goal of playing a full season. He completed 2nd goal of slowly ramping his game back to near all star level. He didnt get chace to show out in playoffs, but I have full faith hes gonna be a killer next season.

Yall are so blessed to have him, you ll understand next season if God allows him to stay healthy. I love DRose man. :mjcry:

I wish I could rep you, bro.

I really don't think Gasol is taking a one year deal again and if we're signing a big to a one year deal, we still don't need a finesse big. We should get a boxing out, beat 'em, doesn't need the ball in his hands big. KP slips even further down the list of offensive options with a Gasol signing.

This is what you guys wanted :yeshrug: to go all in to appease Melo and make the playoffs as quickly as possible

Now we'll sign a few 30 something year olds and become an older team trying to grab a playoff spot

and Im not saying hes going to be healthy, shyt with him, who knows at this point

and hes bound to miss games with soreness and the like, but if he avoids serious injury, hes going to crush next season

Hornacek will utlize him much better than a rookie coach like Hoiberg did
That moment when I wash you in 2k17 using Rose on the Knicks :ohlawd:

This.

He should be a young big, too. One that isn't limited to a half court game and can run transition defense .

Story, work some magic so Biyombo comes on an 15-18 mill deal, breh.

Rose helps the Knicks get to the lottery more than the playoffs though lol. People are kidding themselves a bit if they think he's going to regain 2011 form. Losing Lopez isnt a big deal in the big picture, but he was arguably the teams best player last year. Barring Porzingis turning into a star next year or a Durant signing...the Knicks will be flirting with the lottery.

And after this year, that contract is over...right on time for a 1st round pick and a good free agency class.

We weren't going to be inthe lottery no matter how you cut it. So...:jbhmm:

The more I think about this move the more I am pretty sure this is like when the Heat got Jermaine O'neal so they would have all that cap space in 2010 that they needed to get Lebron and Bosh.

With that said I hope they don't sign Dwight, or Noah, or Gasol to anything long term. 1 year deals and move the money down the road.

I like Terrence Jones.
Better than giving Mike Conley the max, at least with Rose they can evaluate how he does and make a decision without being locked into him for the next 4 years.

Also, if Porzingis can get his weight up he might be the answer at center, and in turn they can look for PFs.

Bismack would be a nice get but 15-18 is too much imo. I'd love to give Kosta Koufos a look if his price tag doesn't get blown up. If my theory that Phil is going win-now heavy is on point, I'd much rather get Koufos and Bazemore or Crabbe than something like maxing out Batum. Horford might make sense as a high priced FA I suppose.

My dream offseason is Phil spending draft night using the cap space to eat unwanted expiring contracts and collecting assets. But I really think he's gonna swing for the fences this offseason.
