Calderon sucked, but was way more of a scapegoat for other glaring issues than people would like to admit.
Who is available that can easily switch between the 2/3 and play with a chip on his shoulder? I have a feeling Phil wants the luxury of a 2, but dependable wing man to save melo down the stretch.

he averaged 10 points and 7 rebs a game lol most of his really good games occurred when we were out of playoff contention
he did not have a better season than melo or zingis.
he isn't a allstar level talent, and he is a center.. which is porzingis's future position
we have a habit of holding out to guys longer than we should until they have no value
2 years ago tim hardway was "untouchable"

lopez is what he is, rather clear cap and have a chance at real superstars next year than to hold up to him when hes not a game changing/franchise changing player
noah can do everything he can do (if healthy) at a cheaper price
plus we got zingis' homeboy coming over.
lopez is not a exception talent and is not worth not having max cap space in 2017 and 2018

I have no problem with the Knicks dumping his salary. Reality is the roster stinks and Carmelo isnt very good. I dont know how many more losing teams he has to take the most shots for when folks will finally realize it.
