I mean, I guess I could understand what he's saying...if he was talking about 94, or even 95. That was the army jacket lining time. But Push said 96, and that was when his OGs introduced him to Reasonable Doubt. Reasonable Doubt came out like a week before It Was Written. When It Was Written came out, Nas was just as flashy and flossy as Big and the rest of them nikkas. NOONE in New York was saying put down It Was Written for Reasonable Doubt in 96. Matter of fact when It was Written came out, the nikka was so flossy purists were heated because they thought he sold out, and WASNT on that army jacket lining shyt. Nas was not the bummy nikka looking like he not seeing money in 96, as Push seems to insinuate. Just seems like revisionist history. Reasonable Doubt was not ringing bells in NY in 96, I find it hard to believe it was ringing like that outside of NY.

I find that hard to believe. :mjlol:

I grew up in VA in the 80's and 90's. A LOT of people from New York and NJ were back and forth to VA. A lot of NY artists wore military shyt.

Push T lying :mjlol:

And that's the other thing.
Anybody that been around can tell u VA style resembles NY style because there's a lot of NYers that moved out there.

Alot of the VA nikkaz I know where fatigues and timbs

I can't put my finger on it but the story just seems off.

I don't know if it's the time frame he's talking about or what.

Jay wearing Versace and Poppin cryst.
And Nas in an army jacket and push being 17.
All that seems off

Nas came out way before Jigga was on that fly shyt. Prior 2 he was Hawaiin sophie

:what:

We can confirm Reasonable doubt dropped in 1996.
We can confirm Jay z wearing Versace and popping “cryst” :childplease:
We can confirm Nas on the army jacket
We can confirm Pusha was 17 in 1996

So…what seems “off” and for WHAT. What does he gain from this story :what:

Pusha T was way too fukkin old to have “his ogs” talking about his music choices :childplease: this bullshyt story never happened like 99% of his career :camby:

He was technically a minor looking up to the dudes driving the cars n getting the girls.
I can see why he'd wanna appear "cool" in their midst

But ain't no negro about to play me about my music choice. Give a fk about your Q45 n Yella hammer

they acting like nas was assed out literally like prince :francis:

It's low self-esteem. Push stories always sound weird AF and fabricated. He's a weirdo.

Like when he said he "only" wore LV when he was in high school because the quality was better than Gucci. But when you see pics of him from back then, he looked damn near homeless. He wants to be seen as a fashion dude so badly, that he tells these weird stories that never seem to make sense or are mad contrary from what's already been seen. This dude was running with some of the bummiest dudes, but now he's speaking like he was hanging with hood versions of Gianni Versace and Karl Lagerfeld.

Nah how bro put it above seems more realistic.

Jay wasnt Poppin like that with that Versace and crist talk earlier on.
By the time he did get Poppin with the fly sht. It would have been alil later and NY in general was on that European fly sht. And jay was the man by then.

Pusha would have been almost a 20yr old himself in 96 but that ain't even 96 he's talking about. It's later.

He might have actually been the "og" telling some lil nikka not to listen to Nas. And live a fantasy life jayz spitting
The story would make sense now

Yea that timeline is off, its not necessarily that Pusha's memory is wrong at all, could just have been that his OGs happened to be hating and downplaying Nas as a bummy rapper still, but by 96 Nas was on that same flashy fly shyt trying to adapt and keep up with the game.

Or maybe Pusha was specifically repping Illmatic to them over It Was Written like a lot of hiphop heads were at that time, so thats why the OGs were downplaying it that way. Who knows who cares, but yea the timeline is off
