Yall stuck on this him not wearing a jacket in 1996. If i see u with a hole in your shirt the first time i met u. Im gonna always see you as a dude that a hole in his shirt. So if that convo took place in 96 Pusha OG was still thinking about 1994

Very simple

Everything you just typed doesn't have anything to do with what I just said, bro. LOL!

But I get it, you have a thing with Nas and you have to express yourself, no matter the thread topic. You can magically tell us what the OG's were thinking 30 years ago, if they don’t favor Nas. The rest of us can say we think the story is a lie and bullsh*t.

Its about what Pusha friends said lol

They said why you listening to a dude that wear a army jacket? Did he or did he not wear one?

Its nothing else to discuss

And tbh the flossy Nas yall keep talking about would probably make those same dudes dislike him more. Because now you want to switch up. No nikka you the Army jacket dude :mjlol:

It's about what Pusha said because nobody believes these imaginary OG's said a thing to dude.

The reasons why have been posted. That dude ain't never have that conversation.

What you said is the point though. In '94, the army jacket was seen as fly sh*t. Dudes would rock that with mad jewelry and gold fronts. That wasn't like some bum outfit back then. But later, Nas wanted to throw on some silky sh*t. Let that man live! LOL!!

People really asking how this went X amount of pages without context. Push is talking about '96 Nas, which we all know wasn't on television in military jackets. This was a mich more flashy Nas and was highly influential on style. He was rapping more so avout the subjects these OG's would've been more into.

Even then, the whole military aesthetic was still huge in Hip Hop from Pac to Wu to Bone. That particular look wasn't associated with a style of rap. It was just fashion until No Limit made it part of their brand.

Then you had actual artists from Virginia publicly stating Nas as one if their favorite rappers.

That's not to say Push wasn't "shamed for liking Nas", it just comes off confusing.
This here.

The thing is, a lot of these dudes on here talk about sh*t they weren't there for. '96 Nas wasn't rockin' no damn army jackets. LOL!! He was at his flashiest from '96-'98. He said underground heads got mad at him for rocking mad jewels and suits in '96. The whole situation with B.I.G. throwing a couple of lines at him, was about how he changed to being more flashy at that time.

That's just Hip Hop history. But the weirdos on here are such losers, you can't speak on facts and history without them getting in their feelings and calling you a stan. This is just everyday sh*t that we all knew back then. It ain't rocket science.
The thing with anecdotes are, they're almost never entirely accurate, especially if they're being verbally narrated. Most of the time they're told for effect rather than an account for historical accuracy.

Pusha could've easily got his dates confused.

He's also telling this from a perspective of being in VA, so it's going to be different to someone who's from NY, at the time. These older VA cats are going off mere snapshots of both rappers (without the insight of someone from NY), so they're telling themselves a story based off a myopic view. I mean these are street cats, so they're hardly going to be doing some deep dive into who Nas and Jay were, they could've seen one image (or listened to snippets of a few songs) and then they'll create a narrative from it that they can tell themselves.

Simply put, they associated Hov with getting money and they associated Nas with not getting it. Right or wrong, that's the story they told themselves.

What I'm saying to you, is that I don’t think the "one OG" even exists.

This isn't really about army jackets, for me, lol. It's about how every time Pusha tells some story, they sound fabricated and usually are proven to be.
