You know
Agreed. Not saying it's his best album but Dangerous was my first MJ album as a kid, remember my aunt used to always play it whenever I came over. It's the MJ album I listen to the most

Still think Can't Let Her Get Away is one of his most slept on tracks

Too bad this song did not make it on the album. MJ and Teddy recorded many songs that didn't make it.

Blood on the Dance floor was also recorded during the Dangerous Sessions in 1991

Thriller was better as a kid cause it's literally an album for kids and Disney believing cacs...

But as an adult...

I ain't listening to shyt like Thriller, Beat It, PYT, Girl is Mine...that shyt is corny...

I only play Human Nature, Wanna Be Starting Something and Billie Jean off Thriller...

As a kid I didn't understand Prince...but the older I got...I could understand a song I Will Die For You...or Nikki...or When Doves Cry...or Purple Rain

And then when I listen to other genres...I could appreciate Prince's breadth of musical knowledge...

Prince made real Rock music...Michael made a half assed rock song...Prince made actual Dance music, Prince made actual Funk, Prince made actual RnB

Lol like Prince is the best artist in the 80s if you wanna talk about albums and not music videos and dance moves...

Although Off The Wall is one of the best Pop albums ever and captures 70s music like no other...

He sold out with Thriller...
It’s funny how people have dismiss MJs album to being kiddy and not real music.
This is only done with MJs work in comparison to Prince. No one says the same thing about bands like The Beatles or U2 in comparison to The Rolling Stones. Or any other artist period. Just Michael.

People love to pretend to be different and pull "Off the wall" out their ass to take shot's at thriller. Kinda like the people who always shout "Me against the world" is better than "All eyez on me". It's "Cool" to do. I;m doing the same. 1999 was way better than purple rain :manny:
Yep... People can’t and don’t think for themselves

He has a strange obsession with MJ. He calls MJ every name in the book and always come out of the woodwork on MJ threads.
Very strange. He always has to put him down. It’s fine to like Prince but you don’t have to at the expense of another artist

I need to go back and revisit Dangerous. I liked it when I was younger, but its been a long time since I listened.
Dangerous suffers from being in the CD era. Too long and some songs should’ve been cut.

Thriller. Prince's songs and albums just aren't as memorable as MJ's. For all of his musical knowledge and ability to play instruments, Prince just didn't have as unfailing a sense for melody and production as MJ. He got off more on being weird than commanding your ear.
Apparently MJ wrote his songs based on melody first then filled in the words later.

Thriller for me. I'm just a big MJ fan.

Dangerous was my personal favourite album because of my age when it came out. 'Who is it' is such a dope underrated MJ track :wow:

Not to go with the 'kiddie' rhetoric concerning MJ, but I will say... as a child, there was nothing better than Thriller. The older I've gotten, if I have to compare the two, Purple Rain takes the W.

Title track for instance... the 'Thriller' video for me is still one of the greatest things we ever saw. But listening to the song just by itself? :yeshrug: I liked it a lot more as a kid with the imagery to attach to it.

'The Girl Is Mine'... I don't even think I liked it as a kid.

Outside of that, I'm totally good with the Thriller album. It's a classic that deserves all the love it gets. It was perfect for its time, definitely inspired everybody, there ain't one MF making R&B music right now that could make this album. It's just that to me, the imagery accompanied with Thriller and the imagery of Mike the performer has just as much to do with why people love 'Thriller' as the music itself, if not more.

On the other side, when I was a kid I didn't really grasp/appreciate the musicianship of the Purple Rain album, especially not the title track. Or that guitar solo on 'Let's Go Crazy'. Or the switch-up on 'Computer Blue'... and then Prince himself was a lil' bizarre to me. And I sure as shyt wasn't allowed to listen to 'Darling Nikki', not that I understood what he was talkin' about anyway.

But now I listen to it and I can let this whole thing roll from beginning to end. There ain't one song on it that I just 'like'. And even tho' this album also benefits from the imagery of Prince during this time (and the movie), I feel like even without a movie attached, this album woulda still been a huge fukkin' deal.

So the kid in me loved 'Thriller' over everything... then I hit my 20s and gave 'Purple Rain' a listen again, and the adult is more partial to PR.

sidenote: I've also changed my views on Thriller vs Off the Wall for some of the same reasons.
