Is the 6 months the timeframe for him to heal and then start football activities line throwing or is he going to work in throwing during the 6 month recovery period?
If he isn't going to start throwing until 6 months, then he won't be ready by the start of the season.
Don't quote me on this but he'll probably do some light throwing as part of his PT and should be fully healed in 6 months if it's not Tommy John surgery. If it is Tommy John then he won't be cleared to do anything strenuous for 6 months before he can train lightly and cleared within a year to resume all activity. Somebody can clear it up for me if I'm wrong. He's gonna have some atrophy in his arm which is why it will take longer to come back.
I ruptured my patella tendon and had a slight tear in the other(this is also why I think squats are the devil) and I did PT starting like 2 weeks after the injury and was able to be pretty much normal 6 months in but not cleared for aggressive training for like a year. I was good to go in my mind like 8 months in. I use that example because the recovery is similar. I lost a lot of leg strength in the beginning but my legs are way stronger than they were before.
Also, I was wrong about Purdy on Sunday, I didn't know it was a tear at the time. I thought it was something but not sure how bad, I just wanted to see one throw to see what he was capable of doing but now I know he wasn't capable of anything. Honestly there was no reason at all for him to be out there even after hearing Kyle's explanation.
