If Punk made enough money, and he's an independent contractor, nothing's wrong at all with withholding services until he receives sufficient value. All wrestlers have are their name and the limited years their body has in terms of performing in the ring. WWE never stopped paying Austin when he walked out, he was on his ranch for 9 months collecting his downside while getting drunk. Punk doesn't owe any of us an answer either.

Before Punk walked out, he was kinda getting lost in the shuffle behind Daniel Bryan and on his way to get pedigreed at Mania. He's gonna be a bigger star than he ever was if he comes back. With a pay raise. Walking out on Vince has benefits if you have a modicum of value. Even the Bella's were brought back with a pay hike. I don't see Austin's point about Punk, he would have made great $ next four months but also would have been buried and his name would mean less.

I think he'd need to be back at the Chicago RAW at the latest to be involved on the WrestleMania card.

I'd be absolutely shocked if Punk doesn't wrestle one more match before his contract is up. Can't imagine Punk not wanting to at least have a goodbye match, and people will pay to see that which means Vince will be interested.
