I wouldn't care if people were consistent about it.

I just LOL because everyone loves pointing out that Nash was such a box office flop. As long as it's not an IWC darling, it's all well and good to call out lack of draw power.

As soon as it's a guy that the IWC wanks to, they get all :scusthov: about ratings talk.

I hate nothing more than blatant double standards.

the over protection, excuses for punk on the Internet is probably the worst I've ever seen for anyone

RAW ratings are irrelevant now. Unless they promise the return of a god, ain't no one other than that 2.8 -3.2 collective showing up. IWC Champ CM Punk ain't to blame for ratings.

Eddie was a ratings success on Smackdown. That's why his storylines were pushed ahead of Batista's and given the most time.
I stand corrected...you're right, ratings were good with Eddie as champ :obama: but there wasn't any real significant jump in the ratings when he became champ, compared to when he wasn't but he did keep them consistently high. Which is the same with Punk. Ratings were in the shytter before he got the strap, and he's been keeping up that same tradition of shytty ratings for the past year lol!

But really, ratings don't mean a whole lot these days. They will consistently average in the 2.5+ range just based off their name and the lifelong fans that are left over from yesteryear which TSC is primarily made up of. CM Punk really isn't to blame. Wrestling isn't as popular as it once was, and CM Punk isn't a big enough star to have a dramtic effect on things ratings-wise anyway.

Nah...in 2005, he and Mysterio were the ratings kings on Smackdown. Long after his title run.

And it's not about blaming CM Punk..he ran his mouth like he was the greatest thing in pro wrestling. Like he's carrying the ship on his back..like he's running the show..like he's the best performer week in and week out without NO PEERS. You listen to his interviews and you can't escape it. He thinks he's meant big business yet when he gets tweeted about his ratings numbers or even Meltzer brings up his ALL TIME low shyt, he gets angry about it and since he's a heel, people just toss it aside and claim it's his character now.

Out of all the things to discuss on a Saturday we are talking about ratings again..... Punk may not be a draw but obviously the WWE doesn't care because they let him run with the strap for a year. We give more fukks about the ratings than the HNIC these days. Even though it's a longshot I wanna see what happens if Punk is still champ after WM 29.

I thought this was a joke thread but yall are really serious about this.

I've seen people bring up ratings from guys like Sheamus, Orton, and other guys from a few years ago when Punk was getting those same ratings when he held the title and was feuding with JBL

Ratings have been declining every year just about and I'd say the E is better right now than 06-10. Even the greatest draw the Rock couldn't pop a 4.0 for Mania season this year when HHH and Cena were getting those, and they're not better draws at all. So that point is moot. Nobody's getting 3.5s consistently anymore until the product changes.

Then we forget that most of you hate Raw so how the hell do you expect other people to sit through 3 hours of it just to catch the main event, no one is that good especially when the show can get boring. Everyone tunes out at 10 now they're supposed to turn back almost an hour later to catch a 5 minute main event?

Fact is dude doesn't really lose viewers except that one overrun last year and PPV buys are up over the last couple of years so that atleast shows those that are watching are willing to pay more money to see the guys reign.

Think alot of you are just turned off by dudes arrogance but this ratings witch hunt is silly.

For the rating don't mean nothing crowd
PWTorch.com - WWE BIZ: Mania & Summerslam carry WWE through first nine months of 2012; Top 10 Ranking of revenue segments

-- The following are the top-ranked revenue-drivers through the first nine months of 2012.

(1) TV Rights Fees: $98.9 million
(2) Live Events: $80.4 million
(3) PPV Revenue: $70.6 million

Rights fees for the most part is based on ratings. While Raw ratings are down, they're still high for cable.

The show declined in ratings when it became about Cena and their segments turning him ranting for 15 minutes. The Taker segments did big numbers but he's never meant shyt on PPV. Rock has a history of ratings/buyrates/whatever else that makes anyone significant in the industry. Punk nor anyone you mentioned aren't anywhere near that acclaim.

Punk has only got legit increase in segments with Vince and Cena. Oh yeah..the AJ and Rock stuff. That was about it. Everything else has been almost embarrassing. Like increases but so marginal they don't mean jack shyt for those "Did You know" slick segments.

Witchhunt? 2.5 is a reality.

Fair enough :leon: When you put it like that, i can't help but believe he brought a lot of this on himself. I never really closely payed attention to any of his tweets, or Meltzer for that matter, and i've never really followed ratings reports. ever.

Even though I am a Punk fan I agree with the bolded especially. For some reason he seems to have a false sense of self-entitlement. What's funny is that judging by this documentary, he's been like that even before he became what he is now. He walked into WWE with a chip on his shoulders and thought higher ups where gonna kiss his feet because of the large following and buzz he got from ROH. I'ts like dude WTF have you done?? :childplease: :deadrose:

You can just tell that he's one of those people that from a very young age always thought he was a lot better than he actually was :russ: But I think that's part of his appeal. And it's hard to not believe that the current heel persona he has now is pretty close to the a$$hole that he is in real life

Again, I like Punk and i was :ohhh:  last year when he did the whole "pipebomb" promo, but after a while that rebel gimmick got played out, and it seemed like all the "changes" he was talking about in his promos just meant him being the focal point and the WWE champion.

With all that said, ratings in WWE in the future will suffer REGARDLESS of Punk and anything that he's doing, because WWE sucks and doesn't attract the casual viewer anymore, because of it's shytty product.

Umm, that's what I said. Point is even he isn't bringing in those crazy ratings in this climate.

And you're pick and choosing. Dude has large increase in matches with guys like Orton and Big Show plus he was getting million increases just weeks before the Lawler fukkery. Ever since then he's been dropping a bit but I don't know if that turned people off or anything.

And you don't think that a 3 hour Raw has anything to do with it? You really expect people to stick with that show through all 3 hours like that? To put all of this on Punk is crazy when he's not even the one losing people.

Youre right. Taker has been the driving force behind Mania since the Mayweather show. They didn't do big business but he was the key performer they put everything around. Until Rock came back, Cena wasn't even allowed near the main event of WM.
