Brehs I won’t probably be able to cop a PS5 until they announce the next one! I’m convinced. I may sign up for Walmart+ and wait for the next drop

So I can play games directly from the drive instead of copying them back onto the system?

For PS5 games, correct. You don’t have to copy them back when you’re using a supported M.2 NVMe drive. You play them directly from the drive. There are certain speed requirements but a wide range of off the shelf drives work.

Good looks I’ll look for some at Best Buy. Any particular ones you recommend?

I have a Samsung 980 Pro 2TB which is highly rated. Another great one seems to be the Western Digital SN850. One thing to keep in mind is the PS5 is capped at like 5600 MBps read speed so going above and beyond that won’t get you much better performance. Check out Google/Reddit to eat some other options.

And that’s a M.2 one you have? I was on Best Buy and saw the Seagate Fire Cuda 530 but that’s too high

Yeah mine is. It fits into the second M.2 slot in the drive bay under the cover of the PS5. They were recently on sale for like $280 on the Samsung site and I had a bunch of points that gave it to me for over half off of that. Otherwise I would have just got a 1tb.

But like I said, don’t go crazy for the top of the line drive unless you just want to spend the dough. There are options that should work just fine. There’s a PNY drive I’m about to cop from Amazon for my kid’s PS5 that’s affordable and supposed to work fine. You just have to buy a cheap heat sink to install it in the PS5.
