The main reason the PS2 lasted was that the PS3 and 360 were expensive at launch, and the 360 had the red ring of death.

Additionally, the PS2 still had MAJOR blockbuster exclusives still coming out for it as late as 2007. Games like Final Fantasy XII and God of War II - which are among the most acclaimed and popular PS2 titles - came out in 2006 and 2007 respectively, and each sold at least 5M copies each.

Also, as said before, the PS2 got really cheap by 2004-2005 - similar to the original PS1 (which also sold a lot of units well into the next generation. The PS1 still had really good exclusive games as late as 2001, while being really cheap).

I still don't see a reason to purchase at this point. Black Ops Cold War should have been on PS3, and did they ever fix Cyberpunk? I see absolutely no reason to purchase a PS5 at this point.

I mean if someone never upgraded to the PS4 Pro the graphical upgrade is pretty significant. But otherwise you are right since the only notable next-gen exclusive right now is Demon Souls.

it really is the best console no question

from my memory you would get 1-2 really great games and a drought for 2 years with new consoles

lightning fast speed is enough to upgrade from a ps4..i takes less than 15 min for most games to download.. maybe less.. ps4 would be hours..ps plus collection..many games 4k 60fops patched

season/subsription type games are all 4k 60fps too.. apex legends, destiny 2, ff14, elder scrolls, warframe, fortnite.. no reason not to upgrade

spotify, netflix, amazon disney all the major streaming is crisp perfect quality and fast

were gonna have ratchet, demon soul, miles and ff7 ps5 version with yuffie in within 6 months of launch

its incredible
i have high hopes for this system, real talk ps5 could be the goat when its all said and done

I think at the end of the day its about games, in the next 3 months games are gonna start dropping again and all this hype around business, acquisitions. and services, aren’t gonna mean anything when ps5 players are playing new games again

That’s why I’m just sitting back and letting them get their celebration off, cause the droughts almost over here.
