This is significant for the fact that the supply of the PlayStation 5 is severely limited at the moment which is why unit sales aren’t a thing.

The PlayStation 5 is the fastest-selling console in U.S. history by dollar sales, but the second best-selling hardware platform in February 2021, with Nintendo Switch continuing to lead the market.


The NPD Group released its monthly report covering best-selling consoles, video games, and more for February 2021 in the U.S. and the Nintendo Switch leads the charge as the best-selling console for the month, with the PS5 behind it in second. However, the PS5 did overtake a record previously held by the Switch when it became the fastest-selling console in U.S. history after the NPD Group tracked "total dollar sales after four months in market."

It can probably pass it for the simple fact that nintendo probably won’t create an actual “next gen” switch years from now. It will be like the DS and just receive refreshes

The sales of the ps4 completely tapered off last year, it’s not selling at all anymore in japan and most of the sales here are probably 2nd hand. People are too hype for the 5 at this point.

The PS5 would have sold as many units as Sony could have made
They are probably at 5-6 million right now
That could have been at 10-30 million worldwide by now if they could make that many units
