Really? What part? One of the things that shocked me when i first went to the continent was the stark lack of white people anywhere on their radio and tv. I damn near cried when i saw a cohesive black family on a colgate commercial, because we rarely see that stuff in the US. As i flipped through their tv, you had to actively search for non-black representation (usually in the form of spanish, indian, or filipino soap operas which is weird to me).


For the record, this tv story was the same when i visited Senegal, Tanzania, and Kenya. Were you in South Africa when you saw this?

No I was in Kenya, But I was watching their cable and I'm talking about kids cartoon shows.

Maybe it was where I was meaning the kids wanted to watch the white shyt but Citzen TV showed some corny Latin American and Philipino soap opreras along with local programming that was fully Black.

Tanzania was different, There was hardly any english programming at all and I didn't see one foreign TV show on basic TV.

But yeah it was still a huge difference than america no fukked up "hood" depictions of Black people at all. Really no sex or violence on TV, I was surprised that they showed a prostitution scene on this Nigerian TV show on their cablle.

This thread is so funny because cartoons for many of us growing up had gay and crossdressing characters doing suspect things all over the damn place. Bugs Bunny and a number of other characters use to crossdress and do suspect stuff all the time, and y'all know how old those characters are.

Jews are ok being smart/nerdy/dorky in movies but they always get the draws of the finest women and rarely go gay unless there's Academy Awards at stake.
