People can't just now be noticing this. It's been obvious from the start that it's just an attempt to discourage people from talking about racial issues.
Yeah except for the fact african americans and hispanics are suffering from job loss in the midwest too.
they're like "racial issues scare away people who would otherwise vote for us on economic issues." and that's because they see justice (economic and racial) as a pie and if you improve the situation of minorities in anyway that takes away a piece of white people's pie. so if we ignore all those pesky issues we can win the white working class back.
You need all these things to count. Reality is neither side alone can win an election.

You're not going to solve racism with more black faces in the corporate oligarchy. If that was the case then we would not be here.

Figured you'd be on this side of the argument. Listen, saying you dislike identity politics and then turning around to talk about preserving certain "demographics" while supporting broad policies that disenfranchise certain others is doublespeak. It's obvious to anyone with basic comprehension skills.

I don't agree with the professor or the OP's agenda. I'm calling you out because you seem to think black people only suffer from racial issues. The community needs jobs and homes too. Kamala Harris won't give us that. There's a difference in identity politics and "identity politics" anyway. For example, saying black lives matter is identity politics that is fine, because african americans need civil rights. Saying we should pick a black candidate for 2020 that only understands black issues at the skin deep level or having more black members of the oligarchy does nothing black people.

Err, I think you have me confused with someone else or are using a right winger's straw man of someone who is "pro black". As usual you seem to be trying to muddy the waters and steer the discussion into different directions so let me reemphasize my point. "Identity politics" is just right wing doublespeak to discourage shining a light on minority issues. Anyone claiming otherwise is suspect.

No muddying of the waters here. It's completely possible that the professor is wrong and that certain people take advantage of identity politics to push centrist crap. Anyone claiming otherwise on that point is really suspect. You view the world in black or white when in reality the situation is shades of gray.

That's nice and all but's be both know who keeps using this term and why. I'm glad that a sizable number of people are finally seeing through these tactics and I know it bothers your side.

What's my side? I already acknowledged the professor was wrong.

@4d 6f 6e 65 79 you guys did this to yourself. Too much focus on the yokel but yet so many upper class white people (including the precious donors) feel the same way as the professor. If we're calling out racism, let's make sure it's for everyone and not just the people who resemble Larry the Cable guy.

I will never understand how Bernie, who if elected President would've at least attempted to redistribute more wealth then any other President since FDR to minorities, is pegged as the "for Whites" candidate.

I think it's because the center left is just a bunch of race-baiters tbh.
