Yes! I loved how insane and demented David became. I completely understand people wanting more about the engineers, I did too, but I also really enjoyed this experience as well.

Here's my thing though, people want it both ways which is why I said Ridley needs to do him, he can't statfisy everyone. Now us Sci-Fi heads wanted more "Engineers", general audiences that pay box office tickets want to see more "Aliens".. Clearly the #1 complaint from general audiences from "Prometheus" was that there was no "Alien" until the very end. That criticism stayed with Ridley. So he brought this film back to the basics. The franchise is called "Alien" period. You can't do an "Alien" movie without Aliens. This is what Ridley learned. I think Ripley is the biggest draw to the franchise and this story takes place before. So I think Michael Fassbender is being positioned as the main character in the prequels. But I get Ridley point about doing "Prometheus".

His beef with all the "Alien" sequels is that nobody answered the question. "Who is that space jockey and where is that ship from?". Even Cameron skipped over it as he just went back to LV-426. In "Alien 3" they were on a prison planet Furiona. Alien: R took place hundreds of years later and dealth with cloning. "Prometheus" was the origin story of the Engineers and now we are getting the origin story of the Aliens. So this prequel series is dope to me thus far. Also The Engineer story is not over, clearly there are more out there on expeditions. The David twist has flipped the franchise on it's head and has once again shown the Androids/Company as the villains as well as the Aliens. "Covenant" had it's flaws but again I enjoyed, I'm a sci-fi head for life.

I was completely fine with Prometheus not having a lot of aliens. It wanted to be a more philosophical and thought provoking film than one of terror, and I liked it a lot. I was not okay with the writing team cheaply writing off the Engineer lore and other elements from Prometheus :camby:. The Neomorphs were pretty cool but I wish they were used in a better story than this one.
I loved Prometheus. That last sentence is not one you hear often. Rather, you hear nikkas bytch about the lack of Neomorphs. They apparently just got what they wanted...and they're bytching:patrice:

The movie just fell completely flat for me. Everything about it was :russell:

It was worse than prometheus in every way.

Characters still acted like complete idiots. Exploring a damn planet with no masks or any protection :mjlol:

Everything was telegraphed from a mile away, the characters were flat and just existed to have deaths.

I honestly didn't even think fassbender was that impressive,he was better in prometheus honestly.

And the ending is meant to be dark and a gut punch, but you see it coming and you dont give a shyt about anyone so it doesn't resonate and feels unearned.

Problem is the movies need be separated and then later merged. Two separate story lines.

This will give the divided groups what they want. For instance they should have in the chamber "Promethius II" ready for release late summer. A film which would expound on the engineers.

Then next year come back with the 2nd chapter of Alien Covenant and the 3rd chapter of Promethius. Working toward the merger.

I agree with everything except the shyt about Fassbender:whoa:

Not only did the man act against himself but created two different characters who have completely different views of humanity and their creator. And it comes across in subtle shyt like looks and body language

I agree.

Everyone ended up gushing for James Mcavoy's performance in Split, which is warranted considering he portrayed children and women, but I thought Fassbender did nearly as admirable a job of portraying distinct persons. Really it was the most fascinating aspect of the film to watch to me.

It's the best part of the movie. It's the only stuff Ridley seems interested in and then he remembers "oh yeah I gotta do alien shyt"

If this was made over Alien: Covenant, I would have been happy as hell. It's a great bridge between the two as it answers the questions in Prometheus and further explores the Engineers as well as having an origin (or in this case rebirth) of the Xenomorph.
