Prodigy's verse on Drop a Gem On Them was the greatest thing out of that East coast-West coast beef

I agree with yall who say Prodigy had one of the greatest rap voices ever. Beyond just the overall skill i enjoy & sometimes draw to artists who have a voice/energy i resonate with. And energy doesnt mean some goofy shyt and acting all "turnt up" (hate that sayin) as energy.

But using some examples of artist with voices/energy i fukk with.

You have your Prodigy, especially between 1994-1996, but even somewhat up to about 2000. But clearly he grew, alcohol/drugs, countless performances have effects on you. But him, cats like Method Man, DMX, Scarface, Billy Danze from MOP, Game as he came out had a voice that stood out which is part of why he was marketable & had listeners, even tho he sounded like various rappers he still had a dope voice especially on Documentary using songs like Start From Scratch as an example.

Jada had a cool voice. Jay Rock has a dope voice. Remember naysayers saying he sounded too much like Game at times tho. Snoop, especially on Chronic & Doggystyle had a smoother voice. But as above the road, weed etc takes a toll. And then he changed his delivery & flow on Doggfather too.

Sticky Fingaz is another one. Xzibit too. Guru..

Some examples. Voice isnt everything, but it is still an important instrument.

I knew just off GP of the post-death 2pac fanism, people will say him too. But i'd disagree. I think it was more of his delivery than voice. His voice didnt stand out too me.

In the grand scheme of the whole East Coast/West Coast beef, "Drop A Gem On 'Em" is a non-factor. Yes, it's a great diss record, but when you break down the events of the East/West Coast beef, it comes down to more than disses. Just between Snoop crushing the buildings and The Source awards, that's already two events >>>>>> than Mobb Deep dissing Pac on "Drop A Gem On 'Em".

If we're arguing records, there's still the fact of how effective of a diss that "Hit Em Up" was. Yeah, "Drop A Gem On Em" is lyrically better from a battle perspective. People like to point out that Pac wasn't lyrical on "Hit Em Up". "Hit Em Up" wasn't made to be lyrical. It was made to humiliate everyone that Pac had an issue with at that point. "Bomb First" and "Against All Odds" were where he got lyrical.

This is pretty pathetic. Really, Snoop crushing the buildings is something that's been referenced well after the beef by NY rappers. "Things ain't been the same since Snoop crushed the buildings".

The guy that said that line was in full coward mode when Pac was spazzin....

Mobb Deep and Snoop been cool and still cool to this day so miss me with that "it doesn't change the impact of that song/video" b/s

Fall back. Mobb Deep and Snoop being cool have no bearing on what I posted. This thread is about "Drop A Gem On Em" being the greatest thing to come out of the East Coast/West Coast beef. I was merely pointing out that it wasn't because Snoop crushing the buildings was a bigger deal and more legendary than that song.

You're conflating impact with quality. Snoop awkwardly making a kicking motion in front of a green screen did not take more skill than writing Pee's verse. Plus we don't even know if that was Snoops idea.
