Nipsey's not new at all.:what:

He's been out since like 2004/05-ish.

The first time I heard him was on that shytty Pac's Life album which is funny enough around the first time I heard Jay Rock.

They've been grinding for a long time it's just that their material doesn't suit this era well.

Nipsey is/was mediocre at best but that doesn't mean he was "wack".

And I'm from London so let's not pretend like he was unknown.

What is bad is the fake dikkriders pretending he was iconic when all his music videos on YouTube were barely past 1-2 million now he's suddenly on 30 million streams in two weeks since his passing?:skip:

And I could not tell from the 2 songs I heard that he was any different, sorry. Then again I listen to golden age hip hop so he never really had a shot anyways.

Me too. I ain't listened to anything new since 2008 when Koonye ruined 50's commercial reign

To be fair, Nipsey peaked in popularity between 2008-2011/12 then got the spotlight on him again mainstream wise literally last year 2018 with his Victory Lap album which is why I'm assuming he's having so much media coverage out of the blue. Victory Lap was a successful project.

He was really a mixtape rapper, so unless you spent your time downloading DJ WhiteOwl etc or other mixtape DJs in and around 2010 on Datpiff before the site went downhill you probably wouldn't of heard him.

He had some good songs back in the day. He wasn't shyt at all just an independant mixtape rapper that never sold out.

The are my favourite songs of his. Most of this stuff is from 10 years ago because that's when he peaked.

He wasn't a mumble rapper nor did he try too hard... he was just a better than average emcee. Don't hate.

I’d heard of Nipsey a long time ago. I remover people clowning that he was a part of the We Are The World reboot.

I didn’t really check for him until the run up to Victory Lap last year. I bought the album and it was nice. Let me know what you think of this song.

He was Trash! Nothing innovative at all.
Bless his social/community work! But as an artist, nothing exciting.

I 100% agree, but don't act like he was a nobody.

Like I said, he peaked nearly 10 years ago and got his shine again last year due to just hard work. That doesn't mean he was "trash".

He came up in the wrong era. The production styles that he floated on like Jay Rock was from an era a decade earlier. All of those songs he did with Snoop/DPG were what worked for him but he was just trying to find his own. You can't really hate on that.
