for Prince it wasnt about getting a "check" or getting PAID
It was something of greater value which is the ownership of his intellectual property i.e (the masters..creative control)
Prince became like a "martyr" one of the first to fight against these exploitive record deals
which explained him adopting the "slave" alias back in the day
because Warner Bros. even had right to his own stage name
Prince has taught us the valuable lesson of soverignty and self ownership
And never gave up fighting for it
yea, that's nice and all, but in the end it boils down to money...him owning his masters, more money for him...WB cutting that check finally from all the money they've made off him, more money for him...he felt he was being used and not properly compensated, hence the slave shyt....cause of the contracts, there was nothing he really could do...i'm glad he's won against them, has gotten control over his music, gotten properly paid, etc...cause not only is that a win for him, it's a win for fans of his music, like me....
