It's funny that the two most feminine artists MJ and Prince are/were the two most outspoken of label mistreatment and mismanagement. All these rappers getting raped are quiet as mouses and would never have the balls to criticize any of the executives. I only saw Dame scream at Kevin Liles ones and that's it.
to tell ya the truth.......most of your most successful and enterprising people in the field of entertainment are somewhat "feminine" or "gay".... i.e (david Geffen, clive davis, Elton john)
let's be real..you don't have to be SUPER MASCULINE to make good business decisions..
and I'm not at all trying to belittle mike or prince...cause their sexual orientation is not of my concern
but what I do respect is the fact that BOTH these artists..Michael and Prince knew THIER SELF WORTH as artists and their contribtion to American pop culture as a whole.
Particularly Prince...your talking about a guy who not only writes his own songs..but produces as well as arranges and can play damn their every instrument that was used in the recording of all his albums!
so WHY SHOULDN'T HE BE ABLE TO RETAIN THE RIGHTS TO HIS OWN MUSIC?!?!?!....The only thing a "DISTRIBUTOR" like WARNER BROS. should be entitled to is a DISTRIBUTION FEE for putting the shyts on the shelves and in various markets
but this whole ideal that the MAJOR DISTRIBUTOR is entitled to not only eat off the majority of your revenue as well as maintain the rights to your artistic work just doesn't make any logical sense!!
and you gotta
PRINCE for telling WARNER BROS. to get da fukk outta his face with all dat bullshyt
till they come up with a better situation where Prince can be not only properly compensated but be respected as a OWNER as well when it comes to his own material.
Shoutout to RAY CHARLES for being one of the first artists to challenge this exploitive industry standard!!
