You put Shaq or Dream on a mediocre team(Say like the Suns this year) and they make it all the way to the Finals and probably win it.
D Rob would get them to the 2nd round..maybe.That '94-'95 San Antonio team was arguably more talented than the '94-'95 Rockets, but D Rob just didn't have it in him
I know its not fair but whenever i hear Robinson all i think of is
and
Damn near 50 wins isn't mediocre. You put a prime D. Rob on these Suns and they probably win the chip.
We comparing him to KG not to Shaq or Dream. Point blank both of your arguments are flawed in that everything negative you have said about D. Rob also applies to KG AND the things that KG were better at aren't really germane to big man basketball and after all we are talking about big men here.
Dude said Kevin Garnett was like a Point-Forward
Technically, maybe mediocre is too strong of a word, but the Suns are nothing more than a "middle of the pack' team.I don't think D Rob had the intestinal fortitude to lead any team to a NBA Title.Great stats guy, but when I watched him play, he was never the dominant player his stats would lead you to believe he was.The Kevin Love syndrome.Ultimate stats guy.The very fact that he was a classical big man and we're able to put a guy like KG up against him, a big man who played smaller than what he was, raises a red flag on D Rob.His currency(stats) are backed by copper, not gold.Where are his stand out performances when the games really mattered the most? I've been watching the NBA real heavy since 1990.He won a ship when he was and had a young Duncan leading the way, but as the main guy, he was in the same boat as Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, and Charles Barkley.Star players who never had teams good enough to win it all.
The difference between those guys and D Rob, I can recall those guys battling, and having standout performances when the pressure was at it's thickest. With D Rob, it's just crickets.Even when he had the team with the best record in the league/won the MVP, he shrunk and turned into the cowardly lion in the playoffs.I look beyond stats when judging a player. They have to pass the eyeball test.Problem with D Rob, I can't find anything beyond the stats. No guts, no heart, no will..Hollowed be thy game.
And I'm supposed to respect a guy like that because he was a physical specimen(That he couldn't fully use to his advantage because his heart pumped kool-aid) and had good stats? Again
Of course, a lot of that can imply to KG, but mentally/heart wise, I don't believe he was as Dandelion soft as D Rob
I only brought up Hakeem & Shaq because you put the word GOAT and KG in the same sentence.I had to bring up 2 of the real GOATS and mention how i'd be in violation if I put KG up against either one...He couldn't fukk with them.....But D Rob? I might just throw Rik Smits & Kevin Duckworth at him
KG had all the same gifts as D. Rob and you acknowledged he's soft too so what exactly is your point? You don't like D. Rob and like KG more? That's about it.
He won a ship when he was and had a young Duncan leading the way, but as the main guy, he was in the same boat as Reggie Miller, Karl Malone, and Charles Barkley.Star players who never had teams good enough to win it all.
I'm not fond of either one of these dudes.
It's "Pick your bytch nygga" to me.
Watching Friday, it's like Smokey(KG) vs Red(D Rob) IMO.
Smokey was a bytch, but he had a lil bit of dog in him.Red was just a total bytch.
End of the day, we judge players differentlly. From where I stand, I've never been impressed with D Rob.EVER
