lol at all this romanticizing over shogun, if he was this goat why did he all of a sudden regress exponentially post 07? I mean what kind of "great" falls out of their prime at 26?which so happened to coincide with his move to the states where drug testing is more stringent.And barbaric foot stomping wasnt allowed...Pride was pride but it doesnt change the fact everyone outside the names I mentioned didnt pan out in the states..Aoki/gomi/yamamoto were terrors in japan too when they got to the USA they couldnt sustain it

I would say that Fedor/Penn fans are way worse than Shogun fans, but dude was way off base. Knee injuries can wreck a fighters career..especially a kickboxers

Shogun barely throws any leg kicks now. In that first fight with Machida the leg kicks were throwing Lyoto off his game. Those knee injuries took their toll on Shogun.

I would say that Fedor/Penn fans are way worse than Shogun fans, but dude was way off base. Knee injuries can wreck a fighters career..especially a kickboxers

yup. in japan, a business or anyone of importance being affiliated with the yakuza is a huge huge thing. it's been a while and i forgot the full details, but DSE, the company that owned Pride, was found to be a business-front for the yakuza. and once this was leaked by a major Japanese newspaper, the major contracted TV station affiliated with Pride cut them off. which means no other stations would pick them up neither, which led to the death of Pride.

the old DSE president actually "hung" himself with speculation of money being owned the yakuza... even a very very famous TV personality in japan had to retire recently all because he was found "talking" to a yakuza.. it's that serious

there's also been background stories of rampage and some other fighters claiming that the japanese would kick them down if they were to lose to sakuraba etc
