This is correct. The Brics dollar isn't real... it was a symbolic gift presented to Putin. Creating a new currency is both unfeasible and unnecessary. They will continue to do trade both in their own basket of currencies and even the US dollar. The crucial aspect is as you mention payment systems, and that exchanges, trade settlements will be conducted on their own parallel systems, some of which are already online now. Global trade in agricultural products is now being done outside of the traditional New York and Chicago based exchanges, which is making Western producers blind to global market developments. Clowns in this thread claiming that "nothing happens" are quite mistaken.

I'm all for that.

People here are asleep and probably don't even know that china has been Brazil's largest trading partner for at least 15 years straight, but the dollar is making it impossible to import anything here without paying double for it due to import fees.

I don't like any of these countries (china, russia, india, south africa), but this trade system will benefit brazilians a lot.

These countries don't even rock with each other like that lmao

But this does highlight an important point: the world needs an alternative to the dollar. America is abusing it's power and sanctioning tons of countries. Those countries need someone to trade with and a currency they can use that isn't US affiliated. They need a backup reserve currency.

It's likely not going to be this, but it might be something else. America's economy is on borrowed time if regulations aren't enforced. You have too many mergers and acquisitions and too much bloat in manager pay. They're so focused on paying share holders and managers that they're firing staff to "cut operating costs" they REALLY need AI to take off because that means they can fire and lay off even more people and increase the compensation for their managers. Elon musk and his 56b pay package has set an awful precedent. Other CEOs will want the same or more.

The days of Western global hegemony are numbered :blessed:

We exploit our own working populations to enrich the ruling elites, to speak nothing of the calamities we have wrought on other countries with invasions, wars, overthrown governments and leaders assassinated - again, just for the benefit of our oligarchical elites - because they would not submit to the rule of neo-colonialist policies set by American instruments of power: the IMF and World Bank. We evilly and cynically foment conflict and war just to empty our stockpiles of weapons so they have to be replenished by the military industrial complex.

Nobody is being "held hostage" by China. BRICS serves up an alternative economic system to the corrupt self-serving systems the West imposes, often by violence. How can we know this? Because China has in fact never projected military force in other countries. They haven't even developed or built such capability. There are no Chinese carrier battlegroups. No government was ever overthrown by China. What they have to offer is mutually beneficial trade, and all are free to say No without threat of reprisal. In fact, more and more are saying Yes: BRICS has expanded, and 30 more countries are applying for membership to date.

I am hopeful that this development will shine a light on China and BRICS as a model for others to follow as a peaceful means of achieving economies that work for the benefit of common people. Xi and Putin will be remembered as the greatest statesmen of these times, if not in the minds and media in the West then certainly in the rest of world as evidenced by the growing solidarity.

I can’t wait for the day the open and politically transparent countries of Russia, China and Iran are our new overlords. :blessed:

This is a big reason why China and Russia want Trump to win. More instability in America will accelerate the shift away from the dollar as the global reserve currency.

Yeah..
The world has been using the US dollar for far too long now, and that has only benefitted the US..and also given US law makers a sense that they run and own the whole world.
Time for the US dollar to stand on its own like every other currency :mjpls:

You realize if the US dollar is no longer the reserve currency US living standards will collapse drastically right?

The US dollar was not always the reserve currency and the process happened gradually.

It will happen again with a different currency. We need to stop acting like it's impossible for life to stay the same or improve if America isn't #1 economically and militarily.

The romans never imagined they'd be reduced to a tiny place in a country called Italy who got demolished in 2 world wars and failed to occupy Ethiopia.

The British never imagined the sun would set on their empire and they'd become a laughing stock in Europe. They are no longer even the economic powerhouse of Europe. The LSE is a joke now.

Empires like people age, weaken and die. America is in its middle age. Within the next 40 years if these trends continue, it will be where the UK is today.

The year is 2050

China's population has halved killing all growth
India and China are at war
Russia, after failing to replace Putin with another competent strong man, has succumb to NATO
SA has balkanized and the right have taken back Brazil
The US dollar is still the reserve currency as immigration continues to buoy growth

Coli posters continue to hold out hope BRICS will save them
