Nobody has more interest in a destabilized Haiti than the United States and possibly the Dominican Republic... and DR couldn't organize something like this by themselves.

Just because ole boy was a puppet for the US doesn't mean they wouldn't off him after he outlived his usefulness.

ETA: And since the assailants spoke Spanish and American English, allegedly... this had to be an inside job by the US and Dominican Republic Governments.

I'm pretty sure that if the US government wanted to assassinate a world leader in his house, they wouldn't yell out the name of a US government agency. That doesn't pass any kind of logic test.

Exactly. They know idiots will run with it. The reality is that the US doesn’t give a shyt about Haiti.

4 killed, two captured. Reminds me Mexico's quick arrests after messy headlines, that are never really confirmed to be involved. I really don't know enough about Haiti to theorize much, but my guess is someone inside the government and not solely foreign interests.

Somalia is safer than Haiti from a personal security perspective. Very unlikely for locals/residents to be kidnapped, robbed etc in most cities/towns. Main threat is the terror one, and even that is mainly focused on Mogadishu.

Where it is similar, is when it comes to governance. Government is still an engine for graft, still provides zero services to any of its citizens, and has no real presence outside of the capital. Beyond that, large swaths of rural southern Somalia remain out of control of Government. Also has same problem as Haiti, in that the Government's revenue is almost entirely funded by international donors, and as such the political class has little incentive to respond to grassroot demands.
