Can’t expect people to stay in the military forever and people are concerned for their safety. Same issue plagues most of Central and South America but you know that.

You can blame capitalism and America if it makes you feel better but it’s more complicated than that. The US trains some members of their military, it’s regulated, selective, and well documented. The US has partnerships with foreign militaries and train around the world. After their service some people will become mercenaries and some become chefs or doctors and etc. That’s just life. It’s not like they’re just training random people to kill as you’ve framed it. I’m sure a former Colombian soldier without US training would’ve been able to commit this crime.
