Folks will have gone two full years without making any student loan payments.

The smart people are paying down that debt while no interest is accruing. I heard several stories where people have paid down a ton of student loan debt. While others are just pissing off the money. Hoping the can gets kicked further down the road.

I'm a little disappointed that the Biden administration hasn't tried to do something big with Student Loan debt.

I would knock $10k everyone student loan debt. Cap the interest rate at 3%. That's half the rate right now. And incentivize working for public sector at year 2. After your second year working for the public you get 3-5% off your student loan balance each year.

He only does this when folk keep their foot on his neck. Imagine what else he can do for black folks especially if we all keep our feet on his neck, hold him accountable and not make excuses for him.

Historically, have previous administrations added the Vice Presidents name? Was it the Obama-Biden Administration?

When I came into office, we were facing a number of unprecedented crises. Our economy was creating only 50,000 new jobs per month, less than 1 percent of Americans were fully vaccinated, many schools were closed, and Americans across the country were struggling to pay their bills and stay afloat. That is why, on my very first day as President, I directed the Department of Education to pause federal student loan repayments through September. In August, my Administration once again extended the pause, through January 31, 2022. That pause has given 41 million Americans badly-needed breathing room during the economic upheaval caused by the global COVID-19 pandemic.

Now, while our jobs recovery is one of the strongest ever — with nearly 6 million jobs added this year, the fewest Americans filing for unemployment in more than 50 years, and overall unemployment at 4.2 percent — we know that millions of student loan borrowers are still coping with the impacts of the pandemic and need some more time before resuming payments. This is an issue Vice President Harris has been closely focused on, and one we both care deeply about.

Given these considerations, today my Administration is extending the pause on federal student loan repayments for an additional 90 days — through May 1, 2022 — as we manage the ongoing pandemic and further strengthen our economic recovery. Meanwhile, the Department of Education will continue working with borrowers to ensure they have the support they need to transition smoothly back into repayment and advance economic stability for their own households and for our nation.

As we are taking this action, I’m asking all student loan borrowers to do their part as well: take full advantage of the Department of Education’s resources to help you prepare for payments to resume; look at options to lower your payments through income-based repayment plans; explore public service loan forgiveness; and make sure you are vaccinated and boosted when eligible.

The percentage of people doing this has to be small. All these people will waste the monthly money on dumb shyt then have t the same bill they started with 2 years ago to complain about when the bill eventually comes due again

True that. If I had student loans and there was a two year no interest period, I would be paying down that shyt as fast as possible, provided I had the means. Capitalized interest is the reason why people are in a never ending position.

Look at the evil people mad that he extended the deadline. This student loan pressure isn't going away. Y'all hoped and prayed that black student loan holders were fuk. This isn't a casualty of war situation where you can let whites suffer as long as black people suffer more, because too many white people have the debt lol. This evil student loan plan to get black people out of the paint has failed. C00ns gon' be mad, but oh well. All that c00ning because you don't want someone else to get a leg up.

Thats what I was looking at breh...I can't remember other administrations listing the VP in there like they have actual power. It must have been some backroom deal they cut when he nominated her for the job...

Ain’t got shyt to do with the lowly citizens. Only people that can put the foot on anybody in Washington DC is people offering a lot of money and favors.
:laff: at a hardcore white supremacist doing anything for black people except find more ways to kill us and take our freedom

In that case, it makes his original comments even more stupid as he lied either knowingly or didn't know that he didn't have the power alone to do it before he made those comments, but made them anyways.
How did he lie? His entire platform was that he was going to work with everyone to show bipartisanship can work and that they can manage to get this shyt through to both sides of the aisle
That part I never believed personally because conservatives hold hands and fight everything unified and fukk heads like Manchin are soft as fukk

I know so many people that I told to keep making those payments or even double up on them. But they won't listen.
