I still think it's too much of a win for this to happen. Every GOP House member knows that they'd get carved up in a primary, where some lunatic would just run to their right and make a bunch of campaign commercials about working with/capitulating to Dems to choose a speaker.

But that would be a massive win.

I would guess what'll happen is they'll eventually peel off one of the five who currently refuse to move, maybe put pressure on them in some way that will register, but this five-percent chance that what Bacon says will happen is worth hoping for.

House is going to be a useless, why give them any bargaining power when they're already crumbling on their own. Basically what all the Republicans were yee-hawing about how "Dems aren't on code" (despite them still getting things done) is happening to them and they have no idea what to do.

They "won" the house by a lower margin than they anticipated and couldn't flip Senate. No red wave. Most of the MAGAtts barely won. Dems shouldn't do anything at all this point because regardless nothing is going to be done, so the best thing to do is let Republicans embarrass themselves.
