I just mean her personality annoys me. I'm no fan of "tax the rich" to solve our issues. It's such a bumper sticker statement. And yes, the media gives her the boogyman theme that's unwarranted.

She is politically smart. She's nowhere in the same stratosphere as Gaetz.

Sorry to go on a socialist rant, but the rich are not paying their fair share in America. That was part of the impetus behind the increased IRS funding in the Inflation Reduction Act, the rich are hiding their money in complex legal instruments and doing things like borrowing against their wealth (shares in companies) to avoid being taxed on their gains.

Also, despite the Republican talking points, poor people in this country actually underutilize benefits because the administrative hurdles to accessing the benefits are cumbersome.

Taxing the rich what they owe is not a panacea, but it will go a long way towards actually ensuring that Americans, citizens of the richest country in the world, actually live the way they should based on their work productivity.

I was talking about the dad HW. He was the last competent GOP president and even he lost to Reagan and only got one term. I think W was the sign that anti intellectualism has fully taken over.
McCain couldn't get the nom today, nor could a Romney-type. I really don't see a normal-ish republican getting the nomination within the next 5-10 years. The party's base has gone bonkers, largely thanks to the massive media infrastructure that has been created for them (Fox, Newsmax, social media, etc). This is also why real life republicans constantly end up addressing nonsensical concerns coming from very-online extremists. Whenever something is covered by Tucker, Shapiro, Candace Owens etc it's immediately picked up by Fox, and then congress people have to jump on board the crazy train to prove loyalty.

This is also why 2024 is doomed for republicans, if they lose. If Trump loses, they're gonna say "see, I told you this was a Trump issue not a republican issue." They'll blame everything on him while their base continues to fully support his agenda. If DeSantis gets the nom and loses, they'll say Trump sabotaged him. Either way they will simply say nothing needs to change, everything is fine, we'll be good in 2028. But it's gonna be four years of more extremism and hatred leading up to 2028, and while Trump personally won't be a factor that year...his base will. These people aren't gonna simply disappear or go back to being focused on taxes and health savings accounts.

Exactly. Once they got a foot in the door it was game over. Palin made being stupid and ignorant a requirement now
