I hope Trump runs. I think he’d be easier to beat. I’d also rather have him as president over DeSantis.

But I really don’t think DeSantis will challenge him.

Probably worthy of it's own thread, but it's crazy how many young Repubs with national ambitions Trump will have kneecapped starting with 2016. At the time people were talking about how deep their bench was as far as leadership, and since then Trump has successfully pushed to the side DeSantis, Marco Rubio, Ted Cruz, Bobby Jindal, Nikki Haley, and Scott Walker, all of whom were under 50 when they went against Trump. Now each of them have more extreme views which push them further away from the views of most Americans.

Trump is a gift to Dems, I think he inspires the left more than the right.

I don't think it matters too much who the Dems run, since the other option is Trump. I think even more Republicans would vote for the Dem candidate just to try to move on from him.

Biden is not running again tho. So Dems need to start to figure out a new ticket.

The one thing I'll give Trump 100% credit for is getting people to give a shyt about elections and improving turnout

Looks like that came from the WSG article, 12ft ladder bypass isn't working.

Have this:

Trump warns DeSantis off 2024 White House run: ‘Could hurt himself very badly’

“I don’t know if he is running. I think if he runs, he could hurt himself very badly. I really believe he could hurt himself badly,” Trump told Fox News Digital in a Monday interview published on Tuesday. “I think he would be making a mistake, I think the base would not like it — I don’t think it would be good for the party.”

“Any of that stuff is not good — you have other people that possibly will run, I guess. I don’t know if he runs. If he runs, he runs,” the 45th president added.

“I would tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering — I know more about him than anybody — other than, perhaps, his wife,” Trump said without elaborating.

........

Before Trump took the stage, Alina Habba, one of his lawyers, warned DeSantis to stick to the Sunshine State.

“He needs to stay in Florida. Just stay where you are. You are doing a great job in Florida,” Habba said in an interview on Right Side Broadcasting, which aired the rally.

The attorney added DeSantis wouldn’t have his current brand-name recognition without Trump’s influence.

“DeSantis is DeSantis because of Trump. I think I like what DeSantis is doing in Florida, but he needs to stay in Florida,” Habba said.

DeSantis must be pissed. DeSantis can beat Biden in 2024. Trump can't unless the economy crashes or inflation is still an issue. DeSantis is going to have to wait until 2028 or risk Trump burying him and fracturing the base in the process.

Republicans must be pissed too knowing they could take the White House in 2024, but will likely have to wait until 2028 because of a deranged narcissist.

Here's the full article:

Flying from Ohio to Florida aboard his remodeled Boeing 757, Donald Trump caught a glimpse of himself on television. “A fine looking young man, a fine looking candidate,” he quipped to a handful of reporters.

Then he saw another potential 2024 presidential contender. “There’s our competitor, he’s a fine guy,” Mr. Trump said Monday night.

He was talking about Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis, who is expected to cruise to re-election, a victory that will ratchet up talk of a Trump-DeSantis rivalry, which had been at a low boil. On Saturday in Pennsylvania, Mr. Trump rapped him as “Ron DeSanctimonious” though he didn’t use the nickname the following day in Miami or at the final rally Monday near Dayton, Ohio.

“I don't know that he’s running,” Mr. Trump said of the 2024 presidential race. “I think if he runs he could hurt himself very badly.”

Mr. Trump remains the party’s heavyweight but Mr. DeSantis has built a national reputation and fundraising juggernaut. Republicans who know the Florida governor well say he is seriously considering running for president, reluctant to give into demands to wait his turn.

Mr. DeSantis’s campaign didn’t respond to a request for comment.

“I think he would be making a mistake,” Mr. Trump said. “I think the base would not like it.”

Mr. Trump told reporters Tuesday outside a polling location in Palm Beach that he voted for the governor.

Mr. Trump endorsed Mr. DeSantis in his 2018 run for governor, lifting the tea party-styled congressman in a Republican primary over establishment favorite Adam Putnam. Mr. DeSantis went on to barely win the general election but Covid-19 helped turn him into a GOP darling as he eventually eschewed lockdowns and downplayed vaccine mandates. Mr. DeSantis has broken gubernatorial fundraising records nationally, pulling in some $200 million.

The governor didn’t ask for Mr. Trump’s endorsement this time and nor did Mr. Trump formally offer one.

“If he runs, he runs,” Mr. Trump said. But he added: “If he did run, I will tell you things about him that won’t be very flattering. I know more about him than anybody other than perhaps his wife, who is really running his campaign.”

If Biden wins in 2024 he is getting that Supreme Court pick to replace Thomas.

2024 Is NOT trump's to lose. his cult is only 35 percent of the country

if we get another dem in there who doesnt have to take the blame for bidenflation, etc, and is an acceptable, moderate alternative for the suburbs, trump will get his ass kicked again. the anti-trump turnout in '24 is gonna be enormous
No one is voting against Biden because of inflation

Another theory that I posted in the other thread is Trump runs in 2024, goes full scorched earth on DeSantis to the point it damages his reputation to non-Floridian voters and possibly splits the party.

Most are thinking he'll announce if he'll run or not. If so, this starts everything. Seems most Republicans want DeSantis now. Trump runs, DeSantis won't. Trump doesn't, clear sailing for DeSantis to get the Republican nod.

I want them both to run, I would like to see them go at it.
