The country is too polarized for Meatball Ron to lose their votes in the Midwest and toss up states. And that’s best case scenario if trump doesn’t run third party. They are fukked if trump wins the primary and fukked even more if he loses. He won’t go quietly and his faithful drones won’t go either.

Trump would do everything in his power to prevent DeSantis from winning a general election, including telling his supporters not to vote. And just as he accused Ted Cruz and others of voter fraud during the 2016 primary, he will do the same to DeSantis. Right now there's a bullshyt story going around that when he was a prosecutor, DeSantis protected a child sex (of course...) criminal who had ties to rigging votes in Florida for him. It's the same bullshyt playbook he always uses, and you can bet your ass he will find and present the young college girls DeSantis (allegedly) drank with at a party when he was a teacher. I don't think any of this matters for normal people. The problem is that the republican primary will largely be decided by people who are not normal.

Even if you're right, and I doubt you are, a sizable portion of his fans will not vote for DeSantis after months of (false) voter fraud and pedo accusations. It's the same bs he was planning on doing in 2016 but no one was strong enough to take him out in the primary. I think the lesson Trump learned from 2017-2020 is that it was a mistake to listen to establishment voices. Jared, Ivanka, his chiefs of staff...none of those people are going to be involved in this run. He'll be surrounded by even more extreme figures than last time and will not play by traditional rules.

Trump isn't Biden or Kamala. Or any other rational, normal person. He's delusional and willing to peddle blatantly false information for years instead of admitting he lost an election. That primary race is gonna get ugly and personal. I don't think DeSantis is ready for that. It's easy to wag your finger and pretend to be a big guy while railing against trannys or teachers. It's another thing entirely to be on stage with Trump and defend yourself/attack him without angering his fans. He won't be able to find the balance.
