Yall don't like him....like Bomani doesn't like him.
forgot derek rose was the first player out there with i cant breathe shirts, etc. today it's acceptable to be more vocal, you can even look in "woke" workplace that have allowed more noice from their black employees. lebron operates safely within the norms of today, he hasn't put himself on the line (which isn't a requirement, but people need to stop acting like he has)

Why does he have to put anything on the line to be recognized for his contribution? Do you? Does Bomani? He is apologetically black, has a black team around him that he built into power corporations and supports ALL our causes vocally and monetary. But us, as a people, lean in with...."He ain't really doing all that..." That shyt is basic.

I like Lebron a lot, I’m his hater on the court but I’ve always applauded how he moves off the court so miss me with the hater shyt.

and you’re clearly missing the point of the conversation. Yes he has to put something on the line to justify those of y’all who want to put his name in the same convo with Ali or Kap, they were serious about their stances, bucked the norms of the time and lost a lot to make their point. Bron wouldn’t even speak up about the human rights abuses in China since he’s so corporate. He’s very cognizant of his brand and literally does what’s ok for many to do in today’s culture yet there’s people like you who act like he’s moved a step above. Nah, just say he’s adding his voice to the convo and stop putting 2 on 10 when it comes to his “activism”

They don't have enough time to cook properly

oll @ doing Weekend observations on a Thursday during the After-show
the show is suffering badly. they moved funniest thing to the post show as well. i'm not sure why ESPN felt greeny needed a radio show, it took multiple lineups and the nfl to make his tv show half successful. they shoulda kept DLS at 3 hours and given Max a 3 hour show and cut the whole greeny thing

:mindblown: under normal circumstances they spent most of the show trolling and clowning.

There's plenty of time to do "the show," but, Dan wants time;
  • For that tired "Update Lady" bit (it was funny for MAYBE the first two weeks)
  • Wants to spent an entire segment picking on someone for something they did in the Zoom chat (that radio listeners can't even see),
  • Make homoerotic jokes about men (I cut the show if every time they interview that "handsome" NFL dude
  • And give a tired view on Black politics (he needs to get more informed guess like Carl [he's been killing it all year] or even Bo) ... he doesn't seem to be expanding beyond "Listen to the players!" "Black people are scared!" I'd be interested if he actually reads or watches any lectures on racism and criminal justice, etc., in his spare time.
Dan doesn't seem to talk sports when that's what he's on ESPN to do.

He doesn't have to be Paul Finebum, but, at it's peak, the show was centered on sports.

Don't cut Ron Magill
:whoa:
And I'll miss some shyt like Stu's prank restaurant appointments

ESPN has a full on show for "social justice," now. Go on there.

My guess; he's high profile and willing to take a paycut.

this is all stuff they used to do all the time, down to talking about stuff radio listeners can't see. i think they're purposely bullshytting in some regards - not talking any sports, moving key segments to the pod - as a way to stick it to ESPN. but the show losing an hour and being stuffed with SC updates and more ad reads hurts it even more.

i said earlier int this thread, before this, each hour was 35-37 mins of content in pod form, with hour 3 being 39-45 mins, now it's 29-30 - that's how much more show they've lost to reads and shyt. ESPN ruined the show, not them (other than of course the decline in quality from it's heyday)

I, by no means, am denying that. It seems like the entire show is only four segments between the live reads and ads. So, I'm not putting this all on them.

But, again, Dan is doing what too many people do in these position when media platforms change and bytch about it instead of changing with the times--the podcast arena is really where they kill the game. A couple of those post shows have been like 15 mins when they made it seem like the show would still be three hours, just the third hour online. Putting the Weekend Obs' and Funny Thing online is petty unless he thinks most of the audience is podcast only.

Dan's whole thing is being laid back and lazy. Well, it's time to be a bit more calculated in how you approach the show. People ain't trying to listen to the hurt, old teddy bear routine every fukking day.

His boy (Skipper) is gone. Ratings are down (they don't hurt the sports leagues if they play). ESPN is a Disney company and gon chase that dollar.

I don't like the change, but, I'm trying to stick with the show.
