Man, this continued Deshaun Watson discussion is absolutely exhausting. Especially since pursuing this so hard ends up getting into unnecessarily murky moral territory. Especially since nobody seems to have criteria that this punishment would meet. This is a slippery slope that absolutely no one wins by going down.

Wake.
Surprisingly I’m mostly with Stugotz on the Deshaun situation. They (Dan, Mike, Jessica) keep bringing up how nothing is being done and upset with teams looking into picking him up but when pressed to answer how should the league handle the situation / punish Deshaun it’s a bunch of “I don’t know what the answer is”. I think people realize they open themselves up to looking goofy by wanting Deshaun punished over allegations only and so they stop short of that but also really want him suspended / punished as an already guilty man.

And I’m saying this as a Panther fan who honestly would rather not have to root for dude but realize I probably would if we pick him up.

agree, they're exhausting with this Watson conversation, especially Jessica who uses her age as to why she openly rooted for Ben, and basically still does even as an adult. I think Watson definitely did some perverted shyt, but nothing criminal has come of it so teams/the league can't do much. Feel free to judge him by whatever subjective morals you have, but objectively, no one has anything to stand on ATM + it's the NFL, not the league you look to for moral compasses to guide decisions.

Stugotz has really been the voice of reason here. You can't go at everyone's neck in this situation, and then not have a desired outcome when asked about it.

I really don't like Goodell, but you can't really attack him as being a shytty leader here, when he's navigating a no win situation. No one's naive enough to not think that the Commissioner's Exempt list is really just being suspended without being suspended, and I really don't think he would've been able to skate on sitting Watson down this entire time before he'd actually been formally indicted on any charges.

I fully believe that Watson was at minimum a habitual line stepper of the highest possible nature, but to act like he's fine just because he's not facing criminal charges is crazy. Realistically speaking, he's probably gonna get his pockets ran to some degree in the civil court, his market for opportunities outside of football during his prime are likely done, and he likely needs to produce at an EXTREMELY high level to not have this hanging over his head in his next contract negotiation. Continuing to push this is just begging for someone to drop the "So, when are black men punished enough?" bomb on the whole situation.

Remarkably disingenuous in this Watson conversation.

"I don't know what the answer is" when it's clear they want a particular result.

And then measuring the Watson allegations against other midconducts. Why even do that :dahell:
