To all the brothers just now coming in and commenting.. please read the first page

This thread is not an attack on hip hop or its bottom feeders (artists)

We've elevated the discussion. We started Hip Hop and made it "cool" we obviously didn't know how to monetize at its inception (probably because we didn't understand how big the genre's earnings potential could be at its inception)

I'm arguing we slowly begin to leave the genre alone. Its clearly been infiltrated and is making billions at the expense of black culture. We can start something else, that is just as fresh, funky, Intellectual, and rebellious and with the lessons of the past WE CAN OWN IT.

still alot of good music out there.. a whole lot.. alot of good shows/live sets..

i dont get the gripes with hip-hop.. its like every day, theres 2/3 threads like this.. its almost like these folks would much rather complain, keep up with BS trivial gossip and do everything except enjoy the genre.. the complaints are never legitimate.. just complaints.. if you dont like it, theres plenty of other music/genres to discover and gripe about as well..

alot of these older heads are turning into the same bitter older heads we would clown growing up.. sh!ts borderline pathetic..
I feel u...for a lot of cats(myself included) we dig, find stuff and enjoy...i think the problems is everybody..blogs,radio,hip hop and non hip hop report o shine light on only the weak stuff..so after awhile even though u found some good hip hop being made in 2014...ur basically watching this artform that u love fall apart around u...its kinda like being on a team and being sidelined for whatever reason and u nice but u watching ur team fall apart around u and theres nothing u can do...

i just dont get how folks can complain about something so open, and optional to enjoy..

just this year alone, ive seen so many good shows.. got so much good music.. and, i live in a very small market-area.. i dont listen to the radio, none of those radio shows, nothing.. i just stay up on music..

a huge part of it is, everybody doesnt wanna be fans anymore.. folks wanna be armchair A&Rs, online activists, stay engulfed in trivial things that really dont even apply to their lives whatsoever.. that in itself, would frustrate anyone with common sense.. just enjoy the music, and if you aint- find something you like doing.. hip-hop aint here to hold your hand, and tell you it'll be ok..

Hip hop has always had an over protective nature...even during the golden era cats was calling ppl for selling out but thats cuz we saw what happen to jazz..we saw waht happen to rock and how elvis is "the king"...and now we see it with eminem...so that over protective nature is valid..and now more than ever ppl with no love for the art have control over it and its destiny..so going back to what i said..yeah i have found some dope hip hop still being made but that doesnt stop that hip hop is dying out here...and yeah we can sit back and enjoy the stuff we found thats good and those old school classics but when u love something and u see it being abused...u gonna say something...to some ppl hip hop means more than it does to others...its the soundtrack of my youth...i wrote rhymes and made beats so for me and others we are invested in this artform so yeah we gonna speak on that weak stuff and step on toes and all that cuz we love this artform..

maybe im confused here, but hows it "dying"..? :dwillhuh:

people are still touring.. alot of dope albums are still getting dropped.. i dont seem to get it.. do you mean as in the mainstream..? because,
the artform isnt dying.. its just evolving.. as all things do.. :yeshrug:

yeah i mean the mainstream..and yeah i agree the art has to evolve to survive but not evrything evolves naturally...sometimes others try to play God and coross pollinate and make something thats not natural...in the past it was natural..skils progressed, production progressed...now....we gone backwards...not even we gone total retard when u hear cats like future and young thugg...its a mess...in the mainstream...its a live and well in the underground...

You are stating in your Op the 'perpetuation of negative stereotypes'
Hardcore Hip Hop and the gatekeepers.. there are Black executives also ElektraCEO is a Black Woman, LA Reid, Russel Simmons, Diddy etc as well as white.
Hardcore Hip Hop is the subject of your OP. Dont try to back away from it.

Whites can have negative images promted in all forms of media and it does not result in justified murder and mistreatment of Whites.

Your OP is borderline dangerous and irresponsible.

Actually it's centered and specific

Please show me a quote where I focused on "hardcore" hip hop exclusively?

"Negative stereotypes and destructive images of Africans with white gatekeepers as program managers, presidents and CEOs of all the major record labels."

I actually.. Wait what lol? I'm not saying the negative images justifies the murder and mistreatment of blacks...

You might want to read the first post again fam

Dude Number 1 why did you relate Hip Hop/ The White execs and not feeling right bout the death of Mike Brown? What do they have to do with each other.

Are you saying White execs put out a Rap song/video then White people/ racist cops get a stereotype in their head in then murk Michael Brown?

Explain yourself.
