Too many students graduating with dumb ass degrees that leave them broke as fukk to even give anything back.
HBCUs should only offer stem courses and cut all those other bullshyt ass degree programs out.
exactly.. where are the so-called and influential, powerful black elite that @ab.aspectus made a whole thread about? Where are their contributions to the dire financial situations faced by the HBCU's as a whole. But yet, they have the capital, political connections and influence to affect change supposedly. This is an example of what happens when there is not a collective concentration of power, minimal oversight, dependence on corporate sponsorship, lack of reinvesting in education, etc.
Thank you. I respect your answer... gave me a different perspective. Not saying whos available to support shouldnt do so, or up it....but we need to realize that these other schools are partly hoisted up by an ENTIRE CLASS of REALLY rich, and REALLY wealthy people...not borderline....and extra emphasis on entire class.
We got nikkas with money, we damn sure cant say we have a full fledged class of them though....only so much a handful of people can relatively do, papered up (at least image wise) or not...that has to be considered as well
Consolidate some of them.Im not sure anything can be done to fix thinga for HBCUs at this point
What would u suggest be done?
The Most Generous Alumni Donors to American Colleges & Universities | The Best SchoolsHonestly, I know it’s a tired point, but until alumni money can create endowments like Non-HBCUs I don’t know if there’s much than can be done.
We (black folks, both graduates and non-graduates of HBCUs) don’t support monetarily, so it forces them to rely on the government faucet, which can be cut off or lessened at any point.
I believe HBCUs and their environment offer a lot to young black folks, but the leadership is filled with old-school thinking blacks who either refuse or have zero idea on how to market and attract the new generation. “Homecoming” is not enough to sell a kid born in the year 2000 to come to a HBCU.
It needs some new blood, IMO
Just because it happens at other institutions doesn’t make it right. We have to stop with that. Now watch the the negros comment like HBCUs the only ones with issue like this
When PWI have had hundreds of millions misappropriated and numerous sex scandals
"Buh buh what about black on black crime?"
And the young administrators are brought into a system of graft where if they try to change it, they get fired by the Board of Trustees. Saw it happen at Morehouse, Alabama State and FAMU lately, now I guess its Howard's turn.
Young administrators come in and want to change the system not realizing that this system is unchangeable until you start to get people in on the policy level.
But another solution is consolidating all local HBCU's into one university system, with one flagship university regionally and the other schools kind of operating on the same level. You can't have Morgan, Bowie, and Howard all competing for the same demographics and funds.
Imagine if we could get rappers to start endowing shyt. I think HBCU's just need better leadership and a stronger marketing campaign like they had in the 90s.
fukk does that have to do with the point of self hating nikkas always got negative shyt to say only about black shytJust because it happens at other institutions doesn’t make it right. We have to stop with that.
Also, when it happens at other institutions, it doesn’t affect accreditation or the overall welfare of the institution. HBCUs aren’t in a position to absorb misappropriated funds and continued scandals, and even if they were, why wouldn’t they want to be better than the status quo?

Mismanagement is an issue, but you’re comparing a small school with 1500 students to a University with over 10,000 students, and multiple Division 1 athletic programsWhy are you associating this with the other thread? Like, I understand you disagree and all, but damn....
This is the result of financial mismangement and Howard allowing fiscal oversight to be given to people that are not qualified. Nothing more.
And dire financials situation? You can miss me with that. Howard has a larger endowment than the PWI I attended in Chicago. Their issue, like most HBCU's, is mismanagement.

"I heard that Dr. Frederick was vindictive. I heard stories from student activists. I wasn’t trying to be an activist. I just wanted financial aid money to go where it belongs — to students. I wanted people to be held accountable. If I had known that standing up would screw up my life like this, I would have never said a thing. I guess that’s how they operate. He inspires fear which breeds compliance. Lesson learned.”

89 million to take care of 1500 students is no comparison
