I don’t understand the logic that video games and gambling are an addiction but not porn

I know gambling is a more dangerous addiction because of the financial costs
but it isn’t something your body will get physical withdrawals from like drugs and alcohol and like porn gambling can be stopped with willpower. Porn costs people time that they could be using constructively.


A bad habit is biting your nails, you don’t bite your nails to escape your problems.


These “academics” are the same people who say men who have their penis surgically removed to become women are not mentally ill. You ever thought that the academic who wrote the paper might just be biased maybe a porn enthusiast?

I have to believe everything because “science” and it has studies that have been peer reviewed there are always counter claims from other scientists from other countries.

It’s not an absolute like maths physics and chemistry. There is high amount of qualitative research and “expert” opinions included

Some people try to just use their imagination to explore the cosmos.

Which only works when you have enough actual facts and science in your brain. Imagination ONLY won't get you many useful answers.

I kinda see what they mean. An addiction hurts to stop when your body has to begin making some substance that it had stopped making. That was replaced by the drug.

The Brehs are harping on the fact that people treat porn like crack, but when you're in love you constantly dwell on your loved one.

A hobbyist spends all waking hours contemplating the hobby.

Are people addicted to sports?

Am I addicted to comic book movies?

There really needs to be two words. One for actual physical chemical addiction and one for these super compelling activities.

That's what be confusing people. The word Love should be split into at least 3. The word Addiction should be split in two, too.

Once you understand that words are little traps and that they are not real in and of themselves, you can start to organize these ideas properly.

I disagree and I run an addiction treatment center and sit on the board of another. Have most of the DSM and the Dimensions memorized at this point. They claim porn isn’t addictive because there’s no chemical dependency but want to acknowledge gambling as an addiction despite it having no chemical dependency.

This is why psychology is a joke. Undereducated underachievers that couldn’t cut it in Psychiatry so they finagled a niche industry that’s much cheaper for services with less results. They are akin to chiropractors or snake oil doctors with a cert.

The bigger problem might be men(mostly) are not getting real sex in their lives so porn is their only sexual outlet. Its far easier to watch some porn than go through all the hoops of trying to get someone decently attractive to fukk you.

If you are in a relationship and having regular sex but still watch porn all day that is more of an issue.
