That dude posts/lurks here... He's very hit or miss when it comes to his content these days.
Let's be clear,
he clowns this forum. He been clowning it since the Kevin Samuels days.
His analysis is rooted in "Socialism".
When he says "bougee" he actually means bourgeosie, not just rich saddity folks that look down on Dusties and Ratchets. He looks at the academic meaning, not the popular meaning.
Now, sometimes that's an approriate way to look at things - when we're talking about workers rights vs owners, etc.
And in this case, he could have easily went into that type of analysis on workers/owners of capital and how that parallels/intersects with business/customer relationship...
Except, no. That's not what he does. He's not interested in actually turning his viewers into Left Wingers that can properly analyze social phenomena.
Instead, he tortures the Left Wing view to link Black "Success" in capitalism to IG restaurants and poor business practices.
It's because in Atlanta, y'all was successful making that white man's money that you want to show out at these IG restaurants.
Meanwhile, the same sort of complaints about
- Bad Restaurant Policies
- Bad Customer Service
- Bad Customers that offer trigger these policies and customer service
Happen in his birth place Chicago, NYC, LA, Kingston, Lagos, Oslo, Copenhagen, Berlin, Bangkok, and Barcelona.
This is not an Atlanta problem. It could happen anywhere, cause we've got cats from everywhere telling folks it ain't just Atlanta. It's not just celebrity/IG culture either.
You could EASILY make this a conversation about Black Haircare - Black Barbers and Hairdressers have these issues in SPADES.
But that's what he does in most of his stuff. He takes something happening in Pop Culture, and then tries to fit it into the "Socialist" Box.
And then throw in a healthy dose of Black Male Misandry when women come up.
Not a popular sentiment, but how much of this "celebrity" experience is driven by women, or by men trying to attract women?
You see how it easy it is to take something tangential and push a narrative?
That said, I'm not gonna push this conversation into some Black Manosphere analysis, because that's not what's happening with these restaurants.
Front and center, it's been about Black Business's poor Business practices. My personal take on it, is that a lot of these businesses start with open arms/anything goes, and they get taken advantage of financially. And a lot of the company policy, poor customer service is in the background of what's really going with us.
The real socialist question is whycome* some Black folks be so broke, so survival mindset oriented, that the businesses dictate harsh terms, and good paying customers deal with the consequences of problem customers?
*See what I did there?
