Beside the fact that both my messages were tongue-in-cheek (to a degree), the Republican platform is ALL identity politics. The most damning political ad against Kamala is for a people, trans people, that she only paid faint lip-service to. Haitians eating pets, migrant gangs, etc. The right ran on Identity politics while the left ran on actual policies BUT nothing revolutionary to rile up a base. The landscape is vastly different from 2016 so you cant even compare them.
