i dont think anti academic is the right word since they all promote reading and knowledge, and i never said i cosigned them, I post them up in the name of free speech and to create an open intellectual environment, and i think they make same valid points sometimes and i find the videos interesting

Not everyone who comes along and claims intellectual merit is worth debating. You at least have to measure up to a certain standard. these are all good things. Unfortunately you are self centered and do not want this for your 'brethren'. Anytime someone brings up Black people doing for themselves and getting economic/conscious and spiritual freedom & empowerment in this country or the African continent, you chime in with distracting info or themes that do not push the subject forward. Instead you belittle the topic, laugh about it, try to discredit it and you have become a thorn in the side of your brothers who are trying to better themselves.

Of course everything said by these guys will not be correct, but why not hone in on the correct info and give that out to the people in this thread? Why not introduce some of your literature (that stands colossal) if it could be beneficial to the conversation at hand. I haven't read everything in this thread so I'm not sure if all of the above was directed toward me. But I never said Blacks were lazy etc.

In terms of this Polight guy, I am not familiar with him. This is my 1st introduction to him...and thats only been 2 videos. Do I agree with everything he said, of course not. Do I agree with him having multiple children with different women? No. Do I agree with his religion etc about Alien Ancestry...no. I would gather that most adults and people on this site have the maturity to sift through the things they feel and know are BS and get the meat out of his message.

If I was to look at the character of all of the men who started this country and use that as a reason to not gather any info from them...I would be rather ignorant and broke. You have to sift through the flaws of man and pick his brain for what is best for you. In my eyes a man is nothing more than a man and all will be wrong in the things we do in some form or fashion.

I still regard myself as a student, not an intellectual, but I'm sure I would air him out on a number of subjects- as would many other people with a college degree and decent academic awareness.

Sad that when I (and others) post articles and essays by or threads about real Black intellectuals, they get very few views and responses, but let someone come in here kicking pseudoscience and basic shyt, y'all praise him and call him some kind of scholar.

I can't say I don't respect his intentions (some of them- all that polygamy and cult leader behavior is suspicious to me,) but he needs to step it up if he wants to guide the hood in a serious way.

Most of the things Polight advocates are common sense things that middle class people in the suburbs know about and try to do already ie. land ownership, real estate, education & retirement funds, staying out of debt, knowing the law and your rights as a citizen etc.
