Soil needs time to recover, local suppliers can't keep up with demand all year around for long periods of time. And you can't grow everything in any type of soil and climate. We do grow alot of corn, because we're the biggest corn exporter in the world. Can we not produce enough or is it that what we can produce is very limited in scope when factoring in the impact of seasonal changes on agriculture needs and variety of global products available? There are certain crops that we destroy to moderate prices but couldn’t that land be used for other types of crops? We overproduce corn, which is why it’s so cheap and part of the reason that high fructose syrup is in everything vs. actual sugar from sugar cane.
