maybe there is a history of companies/industries engaging in opportunistic price hikes that fall slightly below the tariffed goods. also theres this assumption that everything we make buy from china is made here already and americans just buys fewer american goods when we don't even manufacture a lot of stuff here anymore. it takes time to build a supply chain and even if they bought the land and built the facilities it would take years to build the amount of manufacturing equipment/machines to produce the amount of good americans consume. there would be years of backlog orders on those machines, it's a straight up delusional to believe we'll bring back american manufacturing in a few short years. Even the results of joe bidens infrastructure bill and chips acts won't be fully realized until about a decade from now, the early economic benefits we see now are small but expected. had joe biden been continued his re-election campaign he would have seen a lot more meaningful results after a 8 year presidency and thats why republicans know kamala will be re-elected in 2028 because she's gonna have a better economy that was started by joe bidens policies. republicans gonna kick themselves in 4 years calling joe biden presidency her economy and policies because it will be a positive thing just like republicans no longer referring to the ACA as obamacare because democrats and republicans like obamacare.
