That's not how taxes work, ceos can't pass income taxes on to customers, claiming some type of increased production cost.
Maybe not directly. How i see it, nothing will prevent the head of companies from raising prices if their personal and corporate profit reduces because of taxes.

Ill speak personally. I have a side hustle. If i am taxed more because the combination of my w2 and 1099, i will have to increase my service charge to the customer. I need to keep my profit of margin at a certain level.

Uncle sam cant stop me from increasing prices.

I’m assuming that an unstated part of the plan to increase tariffs on China is that there’d be an increase in American created products whose total cost of production would amount to less than the cost + tariff from China but China sells products so dirt cheap that it’d likely still not be feasible for an American company to manufacture here and pay American wages then sell at a profit to a buyer who can sell to consumers at a similar cost to the Chinese product. Also what’s to stop the product manufacturing from just moving to another cheap labor country with no or less tariffs? They’re a dime a dozen in Asia and Central America :mindblown:

Ti be fair, tariffs in theory favor local production/local suppliers because you are basically trying to influence american companies to buy american. I wish he would he have explained more the theoretical goals of tariffs. There is a time and place for tariffs (for example to avoid "dumping") etc.

I do think Trump will most likely go overboard with the tariffs and his protectionist policies have nothing to do with helping the american people. I just wish these conversations were more nuanced and honest. He's basically making it seem like all tariffs re always bad when it's more complicated than that. Because now the average listener will eventually learn that both parties want tariffs in different industries and at different levels (which by the way a lot of it is a result of lobbying) so people will feel like the democrats are lying cause they do it too...

Well in that case it's corporations fukking us over more than the policies. So since Trump's policy has been trickle down economics, why back him over kamala's plan to tax the rich?

Right.

Its a policy that falls short on results because while its nice to think american companies will be forced to by american, its still business. Not a charity case.

Prices will increase either way. For corps, maybe its an en even or slightly uneven split they are willibg to live with.

Its about your local mom and pop business that uses cheap material from china to make shyt. Or provide your services. Business that cant afford to give you 30% off on items.
Business that depend on every dime.

Right. We are under corporate control. Im not for trump in any sense. And i back harris more for her plans to help the middle class.

But taxing the rich just adds more funds to the govt. again not something i want but will maybe help in the form of taxing us less.

Its all ifs and maybes. I just benefit more from a democratic administration.

Most of our local suppliers are farmers, and we need imports to supplement those industries because we can't produce enough to supply the entire country.

Wouldn't that discourage companies from importing from China and sort of force them to start making things here?
In theory, but capitalism would likely result in american companies upping their prices just short of the cost to import, since the importing business is now stuck, resulting in the consumer still paying for it.

All about the money baby!

It’d be harder for individuals to do since their personal taxes have no impact on corporate finances but a corporate taxes increase would definitely try to be pushed off on consumers due to “higher costs of doing business” or some BS like that. Anything that affects their bottom line gets at least an attempted push off to the consumer. I’m thinking back to Papa John’s ( :pacspit: ) response to the Affordable Care Act. If that happens then it’s up to competitors to find a way to provide the same or better quality profit at a similar or better price point that’s more attractive the the consumer. Economics is really something:wow:

The government needs more funds to pay off the debt and continue to fund social programs. The rich control 90 percent of all the wealth so it has to come from their pockets.

Posters here will say they are "Tired of gay shyt" and be ready to vote for Trump over 4% or less of the American population.

You have to treat Coli cats like people on the street: assume they are well-meaning but underinformed. Anything better is a surprise, not a baseline.

Tariffs are used to protect state-side industries, NOT to punish other countries. Using them flippantly hurts us locally way before China would feel

residual effects. Our politicians would lose their jobs over something that bum ass President would do (increase price baselines by using tariffs) because

no one knows how tariffs work.

That's grown man shyt right there. respect.

Can we not produce enough or is it that what we can produce is very limited in scope when factoring in the impact of seasonal changes on agriculture needs and variety of global products available? There are certain crops that we destroy to moderate prices but couldn’t that land be used for other types of crops? We overproduce corn, which is why it’s so cheap and part of the reason that high fructose syrup is in everything vs. actual sugar from sugar cane.

The suburbs
That's the idea, but the cost to bring manufacturing jobs back is much greater for both the company and the customer.

What's portion of this population is prepared to solder motherboards together for minimum wage? Are the companies ready for 500 percent increase to manufacturing cost? Can customers afford the increased cost of goods manufactured here for a living wage?

It's cheaper to just pay the tariffs.
Raise the tariff
