At its heart, the hundreds of million dollar budget cinematic gaming is not sustainable outside of few outliers and that's Sony's bread and butter these days.

That 3rd person, Cac's in the woods genre was bound to play out like 2-d platformers and arcade style FPS games.

Releasing day one on PC would be a grave mistake for Sony. Let's look at the results so far.

The biggest selling Sony title in PC is Horizon FW. With each subsequent PC release the sales numbers have gone down. (Helldivers 2 being the exception)

If you want an example of day and date on PC look at what it did for Xbox. Didn't really move the needle.
People that own both a gaming PC and a PS5 are in the minority and the people thay would drop a console and build a gaming pc even less.

Don't be fooled by enthusiast forums, most gamers don't want to deal with a pc, just hook up their console to their tv ans play some Madden, the impact to hardware and software sales would be minimum.

See, this is weirdo behavior.

Anyway, Sony becomes the next tech company to do a bunch of layoffs. Not a surprise. I do get a kick out of the overly-online weirdos hoping that it means anything more than what Sony leadership has already said it would mean, which is more games on PC. That includes first-party ports, probably on a shorter timeline than before, and more GaaS.

Speaking of, I expect announcements for Bloodborne remaster/remake and Ghost of Tsushima to PC not long from now.
