How? It was a mid gen upgrade like they said. It's not supposed to replace the OG and they wanted to make sure it didn't go over their desired price point to make it accessible. It did that.
If they waited until Microsoft released their Scorpio there won't be rumors of a Ps5 or the need to release a console in two years. They blew the load early and they expected Scorpio to be One S.
last gen was an exception. That shyt went way too long (8 years for XBox, 7 for Playstation). 5/6 is pretty standard. So rumors of a 5 this "early" aren't really shocking. 2 to 3 years in advance isn't really out of the norm.
the only new thing now was the mid gen upgrade which will take some getting used to.
Depending on how strong the 5 will be, I even wonder if it would be more beneficial to wait on the PS5 Pro since mid gen upgrades are now "standard"
What's funny is prior to the Pro's release there was this werid concern over the PS4 Pro supposedly leaving the PS4 in the dust in that PS4 games would be compromised and be shytty compared to the Pro. Now it's out and that's clearly not the case you now have (trolls really) saying that the Pro isn't really an upgrade. It's not supposed to be a generational leap but to say it's hardly a difference? Lol come on dog. There's not a standard upgrade that applies evenly to every game. some games have big differences, some minor and not to mention comparisons over Youtube which ruins the image with it's heavy compression.
It was marketed as 4K plain and simple and it's not.
Because last generation was probably the best ever in gaming. At the time there was no need for a new system. PS5 will come out sooner as Phil said in the interview they almost have the same timeline as Sony because they both use AMD. Sony can't afford to have a system on the martlet for two or more years pushing 4K 60FPS that shyt will be horrible for them and they know it.
The system will turn into an exclusive box and that's all. Let's be honest as well Microsoft is a exclusive or two away from really cutting into Sony lead. They now have the Pc and console market with forza Gears etc.. they have unlimited opportunity to make their system great

It was for achieving a great, "astonishing" image for 4K displays. PS4 Pro has never been marketed as a 4K gaming machine or anything of that sort.
Can you show me exactly where you see/saw(hmm..) PS4 Pro marketed as a "true 4K gaming machine" or the like from Sony? Not forum posts, or journalists or w/e but actual Sony advertisement/marketing?
If the Scorpio has games that aren't native 4K will that not be a 4K gaming machine either? What's the cut off point for being a true 4K machine? 85% of the library? Exclusives?

One minute it's "Checkerboard lul" and then in the same breath go "it's marketed as real 4K!" when clearly that's not true since the "FauxK" jokes came about from the fact that it was said that it's chiefly not a 4K machine(even though there are 4K native games running on there.)
The head man said it won't have its own exclusives MULTIPLE times and clearly stated why (fracturing the userbase by abandoning the XB1). Why continue to push this nonsense?

Cerny openly admitted multiple times that PS4 Pro was going to do 4K and backtracked. I don't have time to look for the articles and this was before the conference.

No, find the receipts. We all watched/saw the Pro Presentation and no where was it being touted that way. Doing TRUE 4k (which it can do, albeit not on a lot of games) and being touted as some true 4k console is not the same thing. It was never portrayed like that.
