Was hoping for late 2023 release.

What's a Pro gonna do? Run at 16k when 99% of people can't afford 8k yet? We finally gonna get true 4k on every single game like these clowns and MS been saying since like the announcement of the PS4 Pro and Xbox One X? Take .000002 seconds off of the loading time for games? Add an extra speckle of light in the upper right corner of the screen somewhere? My PS5 has never stuttered, took a frame dip, acted funny, or nothing else. Why is this needed?
I'd rather buy a steam deck then get a new PS5 at this point

End of 2024 is damn near two years away still, there will be plenty of games that make use of the hardware

This is what it most likely what it is. A ps5 pro and ps6 both coming out within 5 years when people barely just getting the 5 now and its potential hasn’t even been scratched yetThey should be making a PS5 Slim not a goddamn Pro.

Y’all just have a problem with anything said that isn’t unadulterated praise of sony.
We get a thread almost every month taking about how next gen games/graphics aren’t that big of a jump.
But I say PS5 to PS5pro graphics wouldn’t be a big difference and y’all get your panties in a bunch.

I’ve seen plenty of last gen to next gen comparisons.
from a graphics standpoint things are very similar.
Hell you can see it in the difference between performance and graphics modes.
There’s just not that much there.
Where Currrent gen excels over last gen is framerate, load times and quality of life stuff like that.
PS5 pro, won’t get an new CPU and it won’t have a faster SSD, so the only upgrade would be the GPU.
The difference between PS5 and the pro version would be native vs checkerboard/dynamic 4k.
I don’t see that as a relevant upgrade and i’m sure this rumor is false.
Now if it’s a slim version with minor upgrades that would make sense.

Eventually all those nice 60-120fps, RTX, 4k, etc. options are gonna start to vanish once current gen becomes the norm and studios start pushing high fidelity graphics again.
I know for a fact insomniac ain’t gonna have all those display and performance options for spider-man 2 that they had for miles morales. Thats where a pro model comes in. We’re getting all these bell and whistles cause they games are cross gen/early gen. Its not gonna always be that way.
Not to mention a pro model would benefit VR users
But even now if you compare PS5 to what’s achievable on high end PC the difference ain’t that great, and sony ain’t making no $900 console. So again i just don’t see a relevant and affordable upgrade being viable any time soon.
