he seems to have just started getting involved to me but he has health issues.

I'm Not Talking About The Off Season Moves I'm Talking About The Article. He Writes Game Reports That He Hands Out To The Coaching Staff, Personally Taking JR, Shump, And Tim Aside About Their Struggles, Watching Langston Galloway In The D League, Going Over Game Tape With The Team Etc..

You have to love how candid Phil is. You would think this convo was off the record with how forthright he is about dudes.

I like how he didn't consult with Melo on the JR/Shump trade at all too, which was really to protect Melo from having to deal with lying to the media about not knowing or something...did him a favor really. #zenshyt

I did. But the health issues is what I'm assuming is the reason why we don't see him as much...I also think Steve Mills is doing something productive...But on the real Phil is the Team President I couldn't name 3 other team presidents so I won't knock him it seems he does more than the others.

Melo is a very big part of how this team performs .And no one is saying make Melo Gm of the Knicks but if has a active interest in the Knicks plans seeing as how he said this when he resigned and probably was part of the negotiations how does it hurt ?? The guy reached it and tried to recruit players for the Knicks it's smart to include him in the plans. Also if you resign Melo he better be a big part of your plans

Melo was resigned to keep asses in seats, and keep viewership up while they rebuild. That's as far as Melo goes, when it comes to Phil's vision, he was resigned via Dolan's wishes, for the above-expressed purpose.

You're deluding yourself if you think otherwise.

You always go on these long rants and they rarely make sense :francis:

Let me keep this simple, if you have a star in his prime you get players that complement his game and you try to win in the present

Just like when Kobe was on the lakers playing with smush Parker and a bunch of bums...lakers tried to pull that future shyt and Kobe put dem in check with the quickness

If Carmelo had left or we traded him for butler and Mirotic then all this future crap your talking would make sense.

But if Phil chose to keep him when he clearly said he wanted to win now and invested all that money in him?,What's the point of not building around him.

U personally dislike the guy which is cool or whatever But be objective

And there ie zero indication this team is better than last years. It's sure as hell not more talented, but we shall see what happens.

Our season depends on well melo can play witth a bunch of guys who have careers that range from average to medicore.

And ofcourse how well our draft picks adapt to nba life.

I would think that with our first round pick going to raptors, we would have some type of urgency

Why don't you outline how would you accomplish the bolded and by that I mean who would you have acquired in the off-season and how would you have gone about acquiring those players who can play with Melo? Please...

for one we should have got greg monroe
he pretty much fell into our lap
whatever phil said to him in that interview had to of turned him off

im not going to go through every possible free agent pick up
but like phil said, there were 190 free agents avaliable and im not gonna pretend like derrick williams and Kyle Oquinn are some game changing players or that they were on any of our free agent wish lists:francis:

lopez and affalo is cool, but again, nothing super special.i just feel like phil coulda been more aggresive and im not buying his
we didnt want stars we want role players who fit the system :troll: crap.

he more than ANYONE know that talent wins above all

should traded melo if he didnt have intentions to win now

and this is from a guy who keeps saying he isnt gonna finish out his 5 year contract

Monroe on a max wouldn't be ideal. I dont know if Phil just got lucky with him going to Milwaukee or he actually realized it wasnt a great move...(probably lucky) Him and Melo on the floor at the same time would have been a slight improvement from Melo and Amare sharing the floor especially on defense.

amare doesnt pass
monroe is young, hasnt hit his prime, and is perfect for the triangle
surely you would rather have him than robin lopez up front:francis:

surely if lopez is worth 12 mil a year den what is monroe worth

Besides Monroe, what stars did we pass up? Maybe stars want to see some semblance of competency and stability from the organization before they commit to signing to the Knicks? Maybe it's easier to build a foundation of role-players prior to landing the star? LeBron is perhaps the only player who can turn a franchise around with garbage surrounding him as teammates.

Talent does win, yes, but championship teams are only as strong as their weakest link, meaning proven role-players and a deep bench is necessary. I'm glad the Knicks aren't throwing money at players with name recognition who haven't won shyt. That method hasn't worked for the past 20 years, lets see what Phil can do before we judge.

If anything, I'm glad he got rid of that f*ckin BUM JR Smith, that in and of itself made this off-season worth it for me.

According to reports Monroe past on us, we didn't pass on him. Monroe wants to win now and he felt, rightly so, that he can do that quicker with the Bucks. So again, how is that Phil's fault? Phil is not to be blamed for the past 20 years of horrendous mismanagement.

Monroe is a bandaid, not a fix. Him and melo don't guarantee anything but a 2nd round exit.

:stopitslime:

Phil basically got us Marc gasol lite on a cheaper deal

Comparing stats

Lopez- 8.2ppg, 5.0rpg, 1.2bpg , 75%ftp , 53% fgp , 21.2 minutes per game

Gasol- 14.1ppg , 7.9rpg, 1.6bpg, 50% fgp, 75ftp, 33.7 minutes per game

And Lopez is younger... So we still won.

Lopez will have a career high rebounding season.
