I watch basketball and know the game. An article won't change my viewpoint. The statistical king Lebron looked like a poor man's Carmelo Anthony with those bum teammates because he couldn't score in a variety of ways. No post. No midrange. No 3 point shot. You want a guy to just shoot 3s and layups when no player who does that has won a ring. Ever. That's an analytic myth. Looks great in the regular season, gets you smoked in the playoffs.

when have you seen Carmelo shoot 38 times to score 40 points multiple times? The fact that you would rather have Kawhi Leonard, a proven number 2 guy AT BEST, shows that you will never give Melo a fair shake. Put Melo, PG, Durant, even Khris Middleton on SA and they win at least 3 titles. Melo has never had the tools to make a deep run to the finals.

All analytics means is sharing the ball, taking quality shots and playing defense. Basically what the Spurs have done the last 15 years.

He's improved though. If you check his 3 pt % from when he first arrived in the league till now you'll see that. Who would you rather have that would supplement Melos scoring if we get him out of here?

Kahwi Leonard is an amazing player and his defensive prowess is second to none but look at the team he has built around him. He's not an offensive threat yet and he will not carry a teams scoring load. It would be awesome if he develops a more complete offensive arsenal .

Wanting Melo to "carry the scoring load" is a flawed thought process in itself. Why do you overrate shooting so much? Would you rather a Melo jab step, jab step- long two or an easy shot at the rim that resulted by passing and moving?

Best point guard in the league/best shooter ever and a top 3 SG. All Star and Olympian swing man. Top defensive center. Try again?

sounds kinda similar to the 2013 Knicks...except of course they have Curry and we have Melo...

and since now Melo's teammates are such a concern why didnt he just go to Chicago, Dallas or Houston?

You are just off your rocker if you think any recent Knicks team was ever as talented as GS.

And I can name you 50 million why he didn't go.

Also, speaking of the Spurs and their system, guess what used to beat them routinely? The triangle and it's mid range jump shots. :ohhh:

Oh you mean Shaq could handle the Spurs? Wow what a shock. And no Golden St was one of the best teams of all time...however swap Curry for Anthony we probably take Miami to 7 and have a legit shot at a title...something we'll never have wth Carmelo hoisting and bricking.

I don't want him to carry the scoring load but if he can if need be. And of course I'd rather have him take efficient shots by passing and moving but it just so happens he's a great midrange shooter:sas2:

He's not a great mid range shooter he just takes a lot of mid range shots. If he's going to take those types of shots he needs to hit them a lot more
