Williams isn't a bad signing, you just have to bring him off the bench, he shouldn't be starting for any team that wants to make the playoffs. I'd take my chances with the rookie (especially defensively), and tell Williams to score off the bench.
While this is true, do you really start Porzingis? As someone who watched him play in Spain while watching Tavares, he's a smart player but he's not Saric. He's gonna need some time to adjust to the NBA. At least he plays tough and fearless.

Yes, I'd start Porzingis over Williams, if Kristaps has trouble I pull him out the game early, if he has it going and locked in defensively I keep him out there. You start him and give him 20-24mpg at PF exclusively, his body is not ready to play the 5 in the NBA, even against backups. He's more likely to play center coming off the bench, where as if he's in the starting lineup he's playing PF next to a big center.

Both are better than the alternatives, which is a dude that cannot play defense, and a guy that is best suited for coming off the bench. They have enough veterans in their starting 5 to get away with playing their two rookies.
In all fairness, Pekovic and Cousins aren't good for helpside defense like Robin Lopez is. Just saying, maybe Williams is better than you think. Not saying I think he's a starter but this squad might be a fit for him. Minny as well as Sac wasn't.

We'll see, I think he's too weak for the PF position as well but he's more than athletic enough and he can shoot his and dribble his ass off. Such an anomaly.

You right, I really want Grant to beat out Calderon. He needs to come off the bench for shooting purposes only. I like Galloway ahead of him as well

Williams isn't very good as a team defender, regardless of who he's playing with.

I'd start Porzingis because even at this stage he should be able to alter shots, you have a 7'3" (In shoes) PF and a 7'0" center, the interior defense should be good off GP.

Yeah, Calderon is really the eye sore on the Knicks starting lineup. I'd be more comfortable starting Williams at PF than I would Jose at PG, he's just so bad defensively it leads to breakdowns everywhere.

You might be asking for too much, he is kinda raw. I actually watched him at Sevilla. He was clearly extremely talented but he was also raw. I would start Williams. Just me.

I'd start Porzingis, it doesn't have to be from the season opener, but my top 5 pick is getting at least 35 starts no matter what :yeshrug:

I can agree with this. 2nd half of the season should move to Porzingis to become a starter. He is going to be one of those guys who grow a lot within a season.

Porzingis right now is an NBA 3.

He'll grow into being a 4, but he's physically not ready to hang with most 4's
