My main reason to want LMA now...

Not to have a great signing...

But to give a big "fukk you" to David West. Completely inappropriate move for him to say some shyt like that.

This would be an efficient offseason if we could get Lopez...but if both come (if we have the cap) I'd be on cloud nine.

I would think other than money...Phil Has TO push the "Lopez Brothers in the Big City"

What did he say breh :patrice:

Hmmm...

Let's also talk about why Afflalo took a pay cut...

For a lottery team...

Must have been promised other promising pieces are falling soon.

He was one of the players Melo called, they've played together and Afflalo's efficiency was much higher (as his Usage rose, his efficiency stats dropped). I think this was Melo's influence tbh, but there's also the side note that AA and LMA supposedly are close :shaq:

Anthony has called free-agent prospects LaMarcus Aldridge, DeAndre Jordan and Arron Afflalo to try to sell the Knicks.

Teams are gonna run out of cap space and there are some intriguing cats who should get left behind. Beverly, Matthews, Afflalo, R-Lo, and Koufos are all proven contributors that still need deals. There are some young cats that have potential too, Kyle O'Quinn stays getting hyped and Bismack is a rim protector albeit with no offensive game. We can get some bargain signings on these guys and even if we're fighting for the playoffs, but we'll have acquired movable pieces for reasonable prices as opposed to overpaying cats for a treadmill second round exit.

What bigs do we have that are gonna give more than Thompson can? He's not great by any means, but he can be a third or fourth big while we rebuild. I'd easily take Stauskas, a first rounder and two swap options for the 12 million that Landry and Thompson are gonna cost.

How is it inappropriate for what he said?

West is 35. Why would he want to go to a team thats rebuilding? Obviously he wants to contend since his career is nearly over
ok say he's not offered deals by good teams or offered like affalo type deals and he wants more . He's taken a team out of the running for nothing .

Realistically speaking can we even sign both Jordan and LMA now that we got Afflalo for the low?

Coli accountants and NBA salary cap experts?

:ohhh:

That was never a possibility because their maxes are in the higher tier. With some serious maneuvering they might have been able to squeeze out LMA and Monroe if I'm not mistaken, but it would have meant dumping Calderon and another salary on top of it, so that's unrealistic too. Afflalo does make the LMA/R-Lo seem impossible though, unless Lopez takes a pay cut compared to all the other bigs around.

Not unless they take a large pay cut. Both of them are 18 - 20 mil max guys. Even with the cap going up another 2 and if the knicks add 4 mil to their cap by stretching Calderon's contract the knicks can only get to 24-25 mil. I think the knicks want players willing to do an Lebron deal.

Sign for less now with a second year option and then Opt out and let the knicks pay you next year using Bird rights. If done right the knicks could add another player in FA and then re-up everyone. Its the type of deal they gave to Afflalo and its what they reportedly offered Monroe.

Something to the effect of it's ridiculous that he would want to go to the knicks. He wants to win and they aren't winning anything.

It just wasn't professional. Although true.
Exactly . For a leverage standpoint you don't say that even if you don't want to go to NYC

Maybe Phil got the memo

Without looking at last year...Melo definitely was NOT stingy passing out to the open man.

In 2014, that meant Shump and JR bricking their shots.

In 2016, I'm hoping with one more addition...that means Melo kicking the ball out to Afflalo and hitting 40-45% of those open long balls....

And the other 55% Robin Lopez grabbing the board.:wow:

Honestly...I'm feeling okay with Monroe & Lopez. I wouldn't mind that going into the season.

Calderon/Afflalo/Melo/Monroe/Lopez.:ehh:
