Who's everyone? Spurs traded Splitter away to get space for Kawhi, Green & potentially LMA....Hawks traded away Carroll to resign Millsap...which teams are out there signing away with as much or more space than the Knicks?

That's the point though, 2 months ago we thought we'd possibly be able to get 2 starters and a solid bench player for the money we had, then everyone started signing for ridiculously high contracts.. I think players don't want to be the only significant signing NY does this summer cause the roster is so depleted.

We are in trouble . Even the role players that would could help make us playoff teams seem to be signing for big money. I'm looking at what's left and unless we get LMA or deandre or melo goes superham or Krispy is a beast Idk how we make the playoffs . We aren't going to attract the pipe dream of durant without improving anyway so we have to do something , I don't see how little moves can get us in the playoffs. If we had a pick I'd say save money but we don't so :snoop:

Salary dumps aren't quality players :francis:

You see what the Sixers just pulled off...they got Stauskas, a pick and two pick swap options for the price of taking on Jason Thompson and Carl Landry, two solid players. :sas1:

If LMA picks the Spurs, they may have to move Mills to make it fit and if he chooses the Suns than Alex Len or the Morris bros will be the likely candidates to move. :sas2:

Keep tryin' though breh, I can appreciate the effort :salute:

Teams are gonna run out of cap space and there are some intriguing cats who should get left behind. Beverly, Matthews, Afflalo, R-Lo, and Koufos are all proven contributors that still need deals. There are some young cats that have potential too, Kyle O'Quinn stays getting hyped and Bismack is a rim protector albeit with no offensive game. We can get some bargain signings on these guys and even if we're fighting for the playoffs, but we'll have acquired movable pieces for reasonable prices as opposed to overpaying cats for a treadmill second round exit.

What bigs do we have that are gonna give more than Thompson can? He's not great by any means, but he can be a third or fourth big while we rebuild. I'd easily take Stauskas, a first rounder and two swap options for the 12 million that Landry and Thompson are gonna cost.

Its being reported Afflalo to the knicks for 2 years at 16 mil:ehh:

Knicks still got 20 mil

I hope that's legit. Afflalo didn't get a fair deal this past season between the mess in Denver and his role changing repeatedly in Portland (plus he got injured heading into the playoffs). He's got a bit of everything which is what Phil was looking for and 8 milli is beyond reasonable in this insane market. Gimme Robin Lopez and Patrick Beverly on similarly smart deals then just save the cap space and let the trade market develop (I don't think Monroe is coming and LMA is long shot).

Yeah, Carl's best days are behind him...but he's still an improvement over Jason Smith...Stauskas was a top ten pick last year, he's got potential and teams value him (Philly pushed for him). The picks are what makes the deal though. We'd improve our roster (albeit with guys who aren't great but at least better than the D-league cats we trotted out last year) and we'd start refilling all the assets past regimes dealt. It's not my favorite way to build the roster, but if FA's keep getting overpaid, I'd rather keep getting assets and rebuilding than give Demarre Carroll 15 million dollars for four years.
