5 out of 19 studios have been built, yall nikkas in turmoil over xbox doing the same at a bigger scale is sad
Every studio they bought they bought before they hit their prime. Every single studio put out their best game post sony acquisition/management, not before, with the exception being Bungie.

Then there are the support studios….Valkyrie, Xdev, Nixxes, San Mateo, Studio Malaysia. You can see from this list that sony has never made any acquisitions as a company that have pulled any real amount of 3rd party support from other platforms. Almost all their current successful studios were either founded by them or acquired off potential to produce bigger more popular games.
The one exception being Bungie, who not only right off the bat committed themselves to future multiplatform development but have mostly been acquired to even further support the expansion of sonys own studios with their multiplayer efforts.
I can make the same list for Nintendo. I would love to see someone make a list for Microsoft.
Show me the studios Microsoft bought and built up and show me all the games they made specifically for microsoft before the buy out, is there even one?
Every the studio sony bought was exclusively making software for playstation before buyouts, which means they’ve always been supported by them. They didn’t go out and buy a bunch of 3rd party studios with big successful multiplatform games already under their belts.
Microsoft has pretty much been on a spending spree of buying established major IP. Its not even close to what sony has done over the years, all those successful sony studios grew tremendously under sony.
and again, outside of support studios and Bungie, sony owned most the IP from all the studios they bought. Everything sony has spent money on in regards to their first party studio growth has ADDED to the industry.
Even now with the likes of Shift Up, Deviation Games, Kojima Productions, Team Ninja, etc. they are funding smaller newer studios with big projects. Microsoft is simply looking at what already exist and making it theirs. They aren’t adding anything new or creative to gaming.
Last of Us and Uncharted don’t exist without sony buying Naughty Dog. God of War doesn’t exist without sony starting SMS, Ghost of Tsushima doesn’t exist….Elden Ring and Dark Souls probably wouldn’t exist without sony funding Demon’s Souls.
